Do you have a Cat & Mouse story?

Cat & Mouse - Cat holding a computer mouse in it's mouth!

Indy my cat just chased a mouse into my bedroom where I'm working and the mouse ran behind my bed. Indy is standing guard but not pursuing the mouse (the four legged kind not the computer kind). In the meantime I either move to another room or stay put and have near heartfailure everytime something moves - is it the mouse? Does anyone else have some silly cat and mouse stories?

My cat has passed away and I still miss her. That was about a year ago but I have some good memories. Like the time I was sitting on the couch and she had caught a mouse. She did the old cat and mouse thing. She would sit on it's tail with her paw and than take her paw up and kind of walk away only to pounce back on it. What made me laugh was the fact that there was a hold in the wall behind the book case that you could just see. Well after a few times of my cat playing around with the mouse, when the cat's back was turned the mouse made a be line for the hole and scooted in it and my cat didn't see that the mouse had gotten away. When she turned back around it was comical to watch her looking for the mouse. She roamed all over the living room mewing pitifully. Then she roamed into the bedroom which is right next to the living room and went all over looking in there. She came back into the living room and sits in front of me and mews up a storm. I looked at her and commented to her that she was a silly cat. Letting the mouse get one over on her like that. Do you know she went to the door and sat with her back to me and every once in awhile she would look back at me over her shoulder. And they say animals don't understand.

LOL she came to you like you knew where the mouse was, when you refused to tell her she got an attitude and turned her back on you like she felt you had done to her.

My cat was a very expressive cat and I always knew when she was upset with me. The thing about it is she would make it a point of letting me know. She was a sweet cat but when I upset her she definitely would give me attitude. Loved her dearly.

I've never been lucky enough to have a cat ... but I did have a stray kitten that I called my own at one stage. I still do'nt know where it came from but it used to hang around the house and so i gave it some food and a friendship was born. "Kitty" decided to catch all the mice around the house [we had a disgusting mouse problem before the cat turned up on the scene - just couldn't get rid of them ... after we had the cat we never saw another one again!!] and one day i heard it carrying on at the front door - i opened the fly screen to let the cat in and then saw a mouse sitting right in front of the cat. I screamed and yanked the door shut ... the mouse obviously decided that it was time to bolt inside the house to try to get away from the cat. Well ... I ended up catching the mouse between the floor and the bottom of the door [not much room there]. Whoops. The cat thought it was a great game ... but i was pretty freaked out and then spent the rest of the afternoon trying to figure out how to unlodge the mouse [and bits of it] from underneath the front door so i could use it again.

LOL, would be must my luck that would be the only doorway in the house and would have to have opened the door too soon and the mouse would have been in my house again.

I really do like cats, but I am not too sure that it is a good idea to let your cat near your computer. The cat might touch the computer mouse and put it on "pause (paws?)."

I was outside doing yard work once and my noticed my cat wsa intently watching a bucket in the middle of the yard. I lookied in the bucket and sure enough there was a shrue (a small kind of field mouse). I picked the bucket up and dumped it out and she just looked at me like I had turned off her favorite tv show or something so I picked the shrue up buy the tail and set it right in front of her. She started licking it like it was her kitten and for days she kept that little thing in sight and mothered it. I dont knoe if she was lonely or what, she had just lost her first batch of kittens so maybe she just wanted to mother somthing. The shrue didnt seem to mind.

Wow, it's a good thing your cat was there to let you know the situation. Mice can carry a lot of germs and diseases.

We had a mouse in our house a couple weeks ago, but neither cat cared. On the other hand, my one cat did try to chase a non-existent something strait up the wall once. That was cute.

LOL that'a funny the other day mine was doing the same thing but was something in the air above my bed. At first I thought it was a fly or something but I looked and looked - there was nothing there but she kept jumping 2-3 feet in the air batting at "something".

Our cat, Taffy, is so funny...He will chase a mouse all over the house, finally catch it, walk around with it in his mouth, and then he'll drop it and let it run so that he can chase it again... I really don't think he wants to hurt it, just wants something to play with. But, inevitably the mouse is injured and the cat just walks away and it's up to me or my husband to get rid of it...lol

The cat that I had when I was growing up used to quite often bring mice home from the field and woods behind our house. He would often bring them into the garden and play with hem for a wile then he would sit at either the back door or in front of the livingroom window and meow to be let in but mum would always tell him to come back when he was finished, he did once manage to slip past her with one but was rather quickly sent back outside lol. One thing about him that the neighbours found quite funny was he never bothered about birds, he would lie on the shed roof sleeping in the sun and the birds would land on the roof (often there was bread up there for the birds) and all he ever did was open one eye have a quick look then go back to sleep, we think this was due to the fact that when we first got him we had a budgie and while he was very little she flew down and pecked his paw while he was sleeping (stamping her authority we presumed) and since that day he never really looked at birds.

It's always fun watching cats play. Indy misses her brother and sisters. They would hid and jump on each other. They all went to different homes and Indy came to live with me but she still misses that play time. She jumps at me like I'm a cat - never fails she'll do it when I don't know she's in the room and it startles me. Of if I'm walking through the house she'll jump from under a table or behind a door.

It's not silly...An old boyfirend had this crazy aunt. She had a cat, and didn't like it. She brought it to the pound to say she found it. When she got home, she felt horrible, and made her husband go back for it. The husband brought the cat hm, and the next day while the cat was outside, his aunt came home, and ran it over! Thank GOD, the cat survived.

Few years back when my sisters cat was still alive I'd say in 2002 or 2003 we had mice in the attic and walls. But we didnt really realize they were coming outside. We got mouse pelts that killed them off. But anyways. First off my sisters cat is on the dog house outside, she'd be in the backyard. And she had KILLED a baby mouse and put it up there for us to see! Yup this mellow cat of the two (mine I'd think would kill more than Patches would have) had killed a baby mouse and brought it for us to see. Sad but true, cats and mice not together good thing ever I guess.

Oh that's cute. When I was young we had a barn cat that would bring every mouse it killed to the farm house and leave it on the back step. Sometimes this was 2 or 3 a day, we never left the house without checking.

OH I would love to have a dog, yellow lab I think, but I live on a main road and no fenced yard, just wouldn't be fair to the dog. I am going to be moving in the future though (landlord is selling my house and I can't afford it) so maybe I'll find a place in the country, or at least one with a fenced yard.
