What is everyone's favorite recipe and what is in it? What is the story behind it? Was it passed down from generation to generation? Or is it a creation all your own?!

I love making desserts, and am still learning new ones. We have apple trees in our yard, so I kept trying to make apple crisp, though the apples always tasted wonderful, the crisp part never came out right... until I tried Nestle's Butterscotch Apple Crisp (you can find it at verybestbaking.com) I don't have it memorized, only made it once. but the one thing I can whip together at a moment's notice is LASAGNA... it's a slightly healthy version. I use organic, low fat mozza, low fat ricotta, free range eggs, freshly grated parmesan, ground turkey (or ground buffalo) and whole wheat lasagna noodles... I usually use a regular marinara sauce, and put in extra oregano, basil and parsley. It takes about an hour to put everything together, and then another hour in the oven.

One thing I can not do very well is bake! I'm going to check out that website. And I have to say I have never had buffalo but your lasagna sounds wonderful! Thanks for the input!

Menudo "This dish depends on how much of each ingredient you put in it. It just depends on how much you wish to make. This dish takes a while to prepare and to cook but it is worth it. The spices are always according to how hot or spicy you like your food. It tastes better on the second day. If you want to make more, increase the ingredients. If you want less, decrease the ingredients. I learned this on my own and my husband, who is Mexican, loves it. It will please the most avid Mexican food lover." INGREDIENTS * 2 pounds beef tripe * 2 onions, chopped * 4 (15 ounce) cans white hominy * 1/4 teaspoon chili powder * salt and pepper to taste DIRECTIONS 1. In a 16 quart pot combine the tripe and the onions. Add water until pot is about 3/4 full. Cover and cook on low heat for about 2 hours, or until the tripe is tender. Add the hominy, chili powder, and salt and pepper to taste. Cover and cook for another 45 minutes to one hour to incorporate the flavors. Serve with fresh onions, corn tortillas and lemon if desired.
