foul smelling dark urine

My friend asked me this and I didnt have an answer so I thought I would post it here. My friend was telling me that lately she has been having dark yellow urine that smells terrible. Not just in the morning, but all day long. She says she has no pain or anything just is concerned about this. Has been this was for a month or longer. Any idea what it might be? Is it serious?

I have this same problem. It's just from being dehydrated. I stopped drinking all soda type of stuff and force myself to drink water. It does make a difference.
And my doctor told me, that so long as it wasn't getting painful and no other symptoms, that is was as simple as that and I didn't really need to do anything about it. It was just my preference to not have the odor and dark urine.

I would tell her that she needs to go see a dr. asap anything to do with the kidneys could be very dangerous and needs to be seen about.. This is my suggestion..

It could be the sign of a urinary tract infection, bladder infection, or kidney infection. Or she could be incredibly dehydrated.
