"Speech is siver, but Silence is gold", How many of you believe in this saying? Expressing your thoughts, ideas and beliefs is a basic human trait. This can be done most effectively by talking and writing.Talking takes the least amount of time and effort to express ourselves.Talking can be a good source of education and entertainment too.But listening is equally or even more important to acquire and grasp any knowledge. We must possess the proper art of talking and listening .we must also know perfectly well when to do the talking and when to just listen and add to our wealth of knowledge. In my opinion speech and silence are equally important but I would prefer silence because i think I need to learn a lot and for this listening is required more. Both speech and silence complement each other. They are the two sides of the coin. Each is incomplete without the other.Together they exist. Wow! it sounds like a saga of love.

They say you have to be a good listener to be a good conversationalist. The art of conversing probably has more marketvalue than the art of listening, but the latter adds to our knowledge and ,I feel, is more valuable in personality development.Again, hearing and listening are very different. If we are hearing and not paying attention then the information can't be retained or used. The art of conversing ,just as you put it,is equally important. It's a reflection of a person's intellect and education.A person who knows to balance the two finds it easy to climb the social ladder. While all good listeners might not be good learners ,but listening certainly opens doors to the world if you are receptive and retentive.

I dont say that staying silent is the best. But i have experienced so many occasions where i listen to people talking and i gain so much knoledge from them. If on the other hand i had spoken i would not have been able to convey even a little of what those people said. I speak only when i feel that the other speaker is very wrong in his ideas and i do not interrupt him rudely. Everything has to be done politely. So i once again tell that silence may be golden but listening to other people is platinum(The most valuable metal on earth).
