I am 5'9" tall and I weigh too much. I use to weigh 135 and wore a size 8. After having two wonderful boys. I started gaining weight. I know the older you get, the harder it is to loose weight. I have tried all diets, including starving. Nothing helps. I have even checked into the gastric bypass, but I do not meet the requirements. I have even got to the point where I hate to look in the mirror. Can someone help.

Lately, I have been seeing commercials for a lap band. It involves a minor medical procedure that puts a band around your stomach, which will aid in the reduction of weight. It usually takes a small amount of time, and you get to go home the same day. This is something that you may want to look into. PS there is nothing wrong with a chunky dunk.

First off thank you very much. I also feel like there is nothing wrong with chunky dunking. I checked into the lap band and my innsurance wont cover it and I cant afford it right now. It will cover the gastric bypass but I am just so scared something will go wrong. I have heard good stories about it. I have also heard bad stories about it also. Oh well. Have a good day.

I checked into the lap band myself, even though I knew my insurance wouldn't pay for it. You know what? I wasn't overweight enough to qualify! Puh-lease!

My innsurance wont pay for that either. They will pay for the gastric bypass sugery. Crazy huh.

I think it's all a matter of how confident and secure you are in yourself. You gained weight because you have 2 wonderful boys....would you exchange them for being a size 8 again? I have 4 kids and went from pretty ok weight to yowzer! kind of weight, hehehe. I try and exercise when I can, I try to eat sensibly....but it is SO HARD to lose the weight. Then I look at all my kids and I'm happy. :)

Sure, you wouldn't change anything that would take away your boys. But to be there for your boys, no matter what age you are, requires good health. And since it is so hard to attain, we all should do everything we can. Which it sounds like you are trying to do.

yea your right! I rather be 500 lbs then not having my boys. They are the world to me. I know I just need a little more confidence in myself. But, you know sometime it is so hard when you never hear any thing good about you. I guess I am just down on myself. Thanks and I hope you have a great day.

Oh my goodness!!! I am still laughing at the term "chunky dunk"! That is too funny. I have never struggled with my weight, but pretty much my entire family (my parents, my sister, etc) are very overweight. My sister recently had the LAP Band surgery, and she has lost about 20 pounds in a month. I wouldn't recommend it, because she does a lot of complaining about how terrible she feels. My mother lost a bunch of weight doing the low carb thing, and I also know many people who have had success with Weight Watchers. In my opinion, excercise is probably the easiest way to drop some weight. It doesn't have to be "typical" excercise...you could walk, or even sign up for a dance class. Find something that you enjoy doing, and make it a habit to do it consistantly. Good luck!

Lol...chunky dunk. I am feeling a little chunky myself lately. I started walking and dancing about 2 months ago. I haven't done either in about 3 weeks because I injured my foot. I started the 2 hour diet. I eat something light and healthy every 2 hours. Hopefully, I'll start losing weight as soon as I am able to start walking again. Eating every 2 hours does make a difference, maybe you can try that for a week or 2.

With my health, I have been told 6 small meals a day would be best for me. That's close to a two hour diet, when you count in time for sleeping.

You need to plan some exercizes to do daily and plan healthy meals. They say people have to walk 10,000 steps a day. It seems like a lot, but it really isn't when you start to see how many steps add up just within a couple yards. Starving yourself is the worse way to lose weight. You're body will go into starvation mode and won't let you lose anything becuase it thinks it has to hold onto fat to survive. Drink lots of water. I heard that this one guy was a hundred some pounds over wieght and he drank 16 oz of water with and in between every meal and he lost over a hundred pounds by just drinking a bunch of water. So drink, drink drink. Most the time, I only drink water. It helps flush your body out. These things I've seen to be the most effective for me. Try it out and be committed. Good luck

Pedometers can help keep track of how many steps you take a day.

Thanks alot. I hate to drank water but I drank the flavored water that has o calories, o everything. Is that just as good? I do need to take the time out to start walking and other exercising. I have just been out of work and looking for a job. So really that is about all I am focusing on. Take care.

I hear you loud and clear.I'm 5'8" and I weigh nearly 190 pounds.I know why I'm that heavy now....I love to cook and enjoy eating and over the last few month I've been really lazy about getting enough exercise. The one thing that helps me is to keep busy.....if I'm doing something I'm not snacking.Cardio workouts are the best way to loose weight.....you really need to get your heart rate up to boost your metabolic rate.Starving yourself only makes matters worse.Try to make little changes in your life style and you will see results.

I know everyone wants a fast solution, including me, but the thing that worked best for me, was a gradual change. Besides increasing how long I would walk around the neighborhood, I wouldn't go back for seconds, no matter how much I liked the food. And I stopped eating at 7pm. I hope to eventually change that to 6pm, but right now I have to take some medication at a certain time. Also, I cut out soda. It's hard, but I dropped 3 pounds alone from that. And I only drank 3 a week! When you buy foot, pay attention to the trans and saturated fat. Sometimes the fat calories are not bad, until you look how many of the calories are trans and saturated. If you are looking for an inexpensive way to lose in a group setting, try e-diets or Weight Watchers online. You pay less, but you still have a forum to get support from others. But don't beat up yourself if you get off track. Try try again. It's what I have to do myself.

Good luck! I know I need to get off my booty and do something. I know, the older I get, the harder it is to loose the weight.

if you are desperate then you could go for a liposuction , and if not workout , go for a walk daily and hope for the best.

Lipo? I would just do the Lap Band then because it's cheaper and you heal a lot better. You are up and about right after a Lap Band.

I checked into that at one time and almost went through with it. My hubby is against it.
