PTC sites they are called, in other words, Pay to Click. One clicks on ads and the payment one receives varies from site to site. Some might pay 1 or 2 cents per click, others 0.5, 0.33, 0.25 or even 0.1! But the 0.5 and 0.25 cents are somewhat deceiving; as it is not 5 cents one is talking about, but just 0.5 cents, which is just half a cent! One would have to click on 200 ads before getting just 1 dollar! Clicking on ads includes many steps. The time waiting for the page to open, finding the right spot to click and then waiting for the ad to finally appear on the screen. Once the ad appears, then it is necessary to wait a number of seconds before closing the page to go to the next ad. Those are a lot of steps! When one clicks on a site one is expected to do a "proper" search, in other words,to view the ad for a determined number of seconds. Most sites let you know when the time is up and that varies from 5 to 60 seconds. Sometimes people are also expected to click on key words displayed on the ads. The person needs to have good eyesight, as the writing can be very small, but it would also be helpful if the person could read some foreign languages too, as ads are not always in English! It is not an easy business. Emails containing the addresses to be clicked are usually long and include things like Date, From, to and Subject. That information is usually followed by lots of text and often many URL's too, so many times one doesn't even know where to click! One needs to be very careful with the clicking too, as some sites penalise those making more than 3 wrong clicks! But making sure a click is on the right place is not enough, many times one finds and "Already visited" notice after all of one's efforts! Points is something else one needs to watch out for, as they are not the same as cents! The amount of money for each point seems to change constantly too! The clicking business is quite ridiculous actually, as clickers are just patient pretenders! They seem to be interested in the ads and for a set number of seconds too. In reality they might just be sitting there in front of the computer, doing or thinking about something completely different, only waiting for the seconds to tick by, so they can collect their money! Instead of being called Pay to Clcik, it should be called Patience to Click, or Pretenders to Click!

Well, maybe that is why people like the Take the Internet Back guy and AGLOCO are trying to do something about it!
