Arthitis-please help with coping with it?

Okay i have no cartilage in my left foot and osteo-arthitis as well, which is quite painful. Although i am on painkillers which are strong,I am terrified that I will quickly develop a tolerance to them and the pain is no longer manageable. Van anyone give me any tips or help about coping with this chronic and sometimes crippling illness?
i am 20, and really drags me down :(

You are young to be going through what you are going through.I see you posted a few months ago,I do not know if you found any answers are not yet.But,all I can say if you have a good Doctor they know how to do the medicine to keep you from building a tolerance,they will usually switch you around on them were you want always be taking the same one.arthitis is very painful I have it,I am on 4 kinds of meds.and it is no fun.You just take one day at a time,one hour at a time.Do what ever it takes to get through.My God Bless You.
