Dr. Oz says to walk 10,000 steps a day. How many of you are doing that. I just started about 3 weeks ago after I quit smoking!!

I set myself a target to walk 10,000 steps a day as recommended by some studies. I used a pedometer to keep track of my steps. On an average, I made about 7,000 steps, and I will walk around the house or stop at one bus stop ahead of my house to make the numbers. At time while at work, and I am taking tea break, I will take a 10 minutes walk around the office to relax and stretch myself.

It's a good idea and the step goal gives you something to aim for each day. I try to get 10,000 steps by walking or running. It's hard to find a pedometer that's reliable, though, for me anyway, and that I can find replacement batteries for.

It's pretty easy to keep track of if you wear a "reliable" pedometer every day. If you are an active person, walking 10,000 steps isn't difficult at all. However, if you spend most of your time sitting (for work or relaxation) it is more difficult. If you walk for exercise it is even easier to achieve this goal. 10,000 steps equals about 4 miles. Keep up the good work, your health will repay you.

I really enjoy walking, especially with my dog. We walk about 3 to 5 miles every day whatever the weather. A brisk walk is good for the body and good for the soul, I find - meditation on two legs in fact (six if you count the dog!) I use a pedometer too, and it's true, it is an extra motivation to reach your target. So good health all - those shoes are meant for walking...........
