That is just funny. I think people do that because they are just in a hurry and don't have time to type every word accordingly.

Wow I couldn't agree with you more. I saw a news article where the chat language is starting to work its way into high school papers. What a sad sad day it is when some on cant type out the word you, and use u instead. It is only a matter of time before it is acceptable in all aspects of life. Once the kids of today are in charge it will be all over the place.

If they're from an English speaking country then personally I think they use it because they're too stupid to write properly. I absolutely never respond to them - why give them that credibility?

I don't think that is computer lingo I think that is lazy lingo. Part of it is they can not speak English and part of it is they are lazy.

Yes I can understand that Pola, I used to chat too but there we have to type fast so we just shorten some words. But in real life I don't do that, even e-mails at work or between friends (that are not chat friends). I think they are either teenager or they don't live in a society that is using English in its correct form. English is my second language, but being married to English man and living in Canada, I am kind of forced to use this language properly. I think these people also want to make money fast and strangely MyLot haven't done anything about that.

oh I am so happy you put this point into the right consideration....you say you have to guess what they want to say...imagine how difficult and sometimes frustating may be for people like me who don't speak English as their mother tongue language...I am always thinking that I am the only one who cannot understand some abbreviations!!! I don't think these people don't know English..it is their way of dealing with everyday life...maybe the're always in a hurry and are used to eating words!!!! Different is to say that we all can make so many mistakes when writing...I beg your pardon (and those of all the English speaking people) if I make many mistakes. I like your language and I am here to improve it, too and I would be glad if you bear the trouble of correcting me sometimes or another.

You written English is very good. Many people born in English speaking country don't have good vocabulary or writing skills.

I kep asking people what the abreviations mean, but they seem unwilling to tell me, maybe it is a secret code, I only know lol which os lots or laughs or lots of love and WTF which I do not like but is what the frog, and OMG oh my god/granny. After that I admit I am lost, but when I ask I am ignored, me ug no understand ug yeah?

chat language is for chatting.it is not for in forums like this.i missed some discussions as i cant able to get the meaning of the topic as they are written in text language.because the chat language may vary from one to other and everybody cant able to predict the word correctly as the one intended to.so it will be best to write in simple english.

That's the problem with chat language. As chat language is used according to the pronounciation, I believe that most of the users don't use English as main language. Chat language is created according to pronounciation, for example, the word "lyk" would means "like", as the letter "y" would be pronounced as "by" or "why". Personally, I don't think it would be proper to use chat language in forums. It's better to use real English, and this is good for knowledge too. I also don't use chat language even while chatting, I don't want to make this a habit.

It is a little interesting trying to read what people are trying to say when they chat. It's like it has it's own language. I think it started out as a way to communicate faster over the distances of the internet, but it has taken over so much of society. I think it may have it's place, but that place is not everyplace. LOL Oops!

I think one of the most popular subjects on myLot is the lack of good language skills. I know there are a lot of people who have English as a second, or even third language, so on a forum like this, they should use the opportunity to try to improve their skills, and notsimply use the text message language they use with their friends.

My referrence to Stone Age means, that people are supposed to get smarter. When humanity is getting opposite direction...we are going back to Stone age.

I think as more English they know as much more they use chat language.I mean for the people don't know English very well ,like me,is too hard we know and use chat language and if you ask you gonna see it. The people from countries with first language English just they are too lazy to type, and the people from countries that the English not them first language they believe with this way will be just like the other people.I don't speak English well and I don't use or will use chat language and when I see it just i don't even read.I prefer put my mind to understand the right English at one quality discussion or response than I try understand -Stone age-people language.

Agree, I notice that most people from UK , Australia and USA don't do it, so I am guessing that people from other countries only learned chat (text) language.
