."Hosts" tend to start several new discussions everyday , sometimes never replying to any discussions started by others . ."Posters" like to contribute mainly by replying to discussions , only occasionally starting a discussion .

I like the "posters" but only if they also do start some new discussions of their own. If you look at someone's profile and they have not started any discussions of their own then it's hard to get a feeling for what kind of person they are. You learn so much from reading what's on their mind in the discussiosn that they start themselves. Basically, I like to try to get to know people so I prefer friends on my list that share themselves with all of us here on MyLot. Ohhhh -- and I would be really remiss if I didn't admit that I like the ones who choose ME for the best response! :) How about you?

I agree , I love people who would oblige by going over the answers , checking which satisfies then best and then actually PICK a best answer , especially if it happens to be my answer . Thanks, Monica , nice to hear from you .

monica from your posts its obvious you are very clever and HONEST , please tell me : are my discussions stupid ? I can't seem to get ANY responces ! I started a discussion about a very lucrative idea : a small lottery for MyLot users , where every user just contributes 10 cents (to MyLot admin) and MyLot gives the WHOLE sum to one person each month , is that not worth discussing ??

I think your discussions ARE very interesting and I have enjoyed seeing what's on your mind. I can't explain why but for *some* reason that one discussion of yours about the lottery didn't interest me. I think I barely read it and I have read most of your other posts...??? I don't know why. I'll go read that lottery discussion now! :)

for me, all friends are welcomed wether they're poster or hosts. More friend = more power, more knowledge. i post a discussion about a month ago without any response for weeks, yet now i got 15 response for that discussion. I like to post topic, and also to give comments, depends on the mood and situation i think. sometimes im browsing for new topics, and the other time, im browsing on topics that my friends started. If someone add me as their friend, then there must be some part of me that they found interest, vice versa. i keep all my friends, it doesn't matter if they didn't read alll of my comments or topics, i believe that someday some of them would find something interesting to discuss with me here in mylot =)

Hi , Malaekat . That's a great thought (friends = power) . Its frequently true even in real life . Thank you for replying . I will keep posting and replying to discussions and see what happens .

I agree more friends more power! Just remember power corrupts. I add unless that power is pure power because only already corrupted power can corrupt. Still even being friends just for the sake of having friends lends power. If I have a hundred friends and I am in need then I need of a hundred dollars than I need only ask for a dollar per person to get what I need. The more friends you have the more access to resources you may need. This is one reason mylot is good for all of our goals in life.

I want the so called "Posters". Mainly because of hope that they would atleast reply to one of my discussions. I belong in that "Poster" category so I also prefer that kind of friends so we can help each other replying in each other's topics.

I guess that would be the right approach . I thought of this because most of the people I sent "friend requests" to were pretty girls (more accurately , users with pretty girls pictures for avatars) , then I noticed I don't get any replies to my discussions , so I had a moment of reflection , and I decided to mend my ways . I now know who I am definitely keeping on my list .

I belong to the posters category and mostly prefer hosts as friends though both are equally welcome. So far I feel more comfortable responding to discussions and just maybe starting one or two discussions of my own. All my friends are hosts, like you for example and l like responding to your posts.

Well I think hosts give the opportunity for their friends to have topics to discuss to without having to search through many interests. But if the host posts boring topics, there's really no advantages for you.

That's a new point of view ! Indeed , a "hoster" can be a worthwhile friend by providing a shortcut to interesting discussions ,IF they produce good discussions .

I tend to add or accept anyone who I come across. This is mostly just my nature as I am a very accepting person. In life I am willing to be friends with anyone but I am just as willing to drop a friend who mistreats me intentionally. Unless though that friend has been a long term friend whom I have a really great relationship with. Like my best friend whom I have known since I was 5 ( I am now 24), this person deliberately hurt me a year ago, but I was willing to take a closer look at the offense and discuss it with the person. We are now on good terms again. Here on mylot I accept everyone I come across mostly, because it is good for business but heck I love meeting people. I only give best response though to someone who I feel is truly the best response. I also always wait until I have at least two pages of replies before selecting a best response. And, I have set high standards for best responses. The reason for high standards on this issue is that I devote significant time and effort to replying to everyone who replies to me and just to every reply I make. So I don't want to waist more time reading through stuff that bores me. I guess I have one exception to the friend thing on mylot. I really hate the people who make only short replies and post that are there obviously just to make a bit of cash. These people aren't to bright to begin with. I don't waist my time with them as I don't want to encourage their behavior of righting crappy post. Always quality most be balanced with quantity to some reasonably balanced ratio. I also don't want them in my discussions at all. I'm here to make money but I also profit in other ways from the knowledge itself. And a one sentence verbal fart is a waist of my time on all levels and time is profit no matter how I look at it so long as it is used wisely.

Oh, I also always give a positive mark to everyone except those who do verbal farting which gets a negative mark, and if for some reason really annoys me gets reported to mylot staff. I don't go easy on the bad guys.

I accept all of them. Particularly because all here in myLot do both. Since i enjoy doing both, i'd like my friends to respond to my discussions as well as me responding to their's, just like what i am doing right now. I purposely select from my friends' list, any discussions that i think is interesting, and i would respond to it. We are here to help each other. At the end of the day, everyone gets paid!

Circle of Friends - It's great to have a circle of friends. Just don't expect from them what you aren't willing to give in return.
The important thing to remember is that friendship is a two way street. It doesn't matter to me how many discussions they post, as long as they don't expect me to respond to all of them. I do expect them to at least respond to some though just as I would try to respond to theirs.

Well, having just joined a week ago, I haven't given it much thought. I would accept either hosts or posters right now, and then maybe delete them later on as I got to know them (or not). But I don't think I'd allow Barney (the purple dinosaur kids watch on tv) to be my friend :o)

If they are not contributing to your discussions , then you should delete them , Barney too .
