My MS medicine makes me sick and feeling crummy. Without it, I feel mroe healthy and alive, but the doctor says it is more likely that I will have a relapse. I'm thinking about just trying to lvie healthy and avoid he emdicine. What would you do?

I'm not sure of your age, so I don't know if you are an adult or not. If you are an adult - it is your choice; if you are not an adult, the decicision is not totally up to you. Either case; it is something only you can really decide on - do you swallow the pill or do you spit it out? Do you want to control your symptoms or do you want to feem temporarity better? It's a crappy choice, I know, but it's one that only you can make. May you be blessed ~Donna

Donna--
I'm an adult...well, biologically. (I'm 38). I've actually already decided to ask my doctor about alternative treatments, because I know that the medication is not healthy...side effects (long term) include liver damage and maybe eye damage. Short term side effects are "flu-like symptoms" that make me feel worse than the MS does. However, I don't want to end up in a wheelchair or worse if I can avoid it...
So I am researching other healing methods and wanting to get a good idea of opinions. Ultimately, I (with my husband's input) decide, but if you know the medication is bad for you too...what's the best option?
By the way, thanks for all your helpful responses....and I love your story on your icon page :)

Actually, right now, the symptoms of the MS are almost none...a little weakness in my right leg, but that's it....so yeah, the meds are wrose than the disease right now.

Oh I can relate to that one. My meds to that too. I hate it. I take them on the weekend, because they make me feel crummy. I cheat a lot and some weeks skip it. Especially when I am already feeling yucky. The shots will just compound it. My doctor tells me, I can't stop for the same reason. I guess that we should count our blessings we have the meds. It helps to have a support system though, cause dealing with the MS is bad enough, without adding the shots. I wonder if they really do help???

Get back on a med. Try the Copaxone. Least side effects of anything. You don't get the flu like feelings and they are trying to get it back in pill form. Remember, there is cognitive injury to consider as well.
