my friends and i were discussing about our adorable nieces and nephews, centering on the cleverness of our little angels at such early ages. we came across the topic on nursery education. Some of my friends said that its okay for them if their nieces or nephews dont go to nursery. After all they themserlves did not go to nursery. They think its okay to skip nursery and just proceed with elementary education. according to them skipping nursery is economical.
i for one would like my niece and nephew attend nursery education. although i myself did not attend nursery, but i am convinced of the importance of nursery education as a basic foundation for children that will prepare them to the tougher elementary, secondary and tertiary education.
what do you have to say about this. Is nursery education still important or we can just do away with it and proceed with elementary education?

I did not go to nursery school, and I wished that my parents had sent me. I struggled in kidnergarted when I first came in. I think that had I gone to pre-k, I would have been more prepared for school. I plan on sending my son to nursery school. Not only will it prepare him for actual schooling, it will promote interaction between him and kids his age. I think it's beneficial all around.

To be honest, I didn't go for nursery and kindergarten. I went to grade 1 right away. I learned the things kids learn in nursery and kindergarten from both of my parents. They were teachers so it's as if I went to school. They have the materials for me and they were hands on to me. My mom tried to send me to nursery though but I didn't want to. I cried. So they decided to just teach me at home hahah.

Here in the UK nursery education is very important. It teaches children all of the basic social skills they need to have in order to adapt to being at school, such as sharing, taking turns, working together and even mixing with other children (as there are many children who have never done this). It also provides children with a good foundation of knowledge that they can build on when they start school such as colour knowledge, knowledge of number, alphabet knowledge, and basic writing skills, there is so much that children can learn from attending nursery. I know at my school we can instantly spot the children who haven't attended a nursery from those who have, it takes them much longer to settle in and they don't have as much basic number knowledge etc as those who have attended nursery.

I honestly think early education is pretty good. The children get to be exposed to the education early on and that could help them with their future in education.

Yup I truely believe tht nursery education is quite an essential part of our student life. Your nephews and nieces do need it. Actually nursery is the time when we start learning how to interact with others and how to respect our teachers and a lot of basic stuff. Its almost a foundation for the life to be.
At nursery we have learninig with fun and so it also propels us towards a better apetite for knowledge. Moreover its quite enjoyable so its better that they are sent to nursery.
Take care

i think nursery education is invaluable..helping the little tots towards independence and also gives mum time to rest lol..as they have all the equipment for teaching many new skills which often at home we may not possess..

when im still in grade school there was not prep/nursery yet..it only now a days that was introduce and become famous and even become a must to every students..i would say that we still can proceed to elementary without enrolling on the above mentioned stages..because it was have been doing by the elders anyway...it really depend on the student if hes good or not..with the help of the parents of course..

Hi cuddleme, Both my daughters started school when they are 3 years old. I would encourage any parents to let their children start that early. Pre-schooler is usually a 2 to 3 hours of classes only. For the busy parents, letting your child study that young is preferrable. They can learn the basic of ABC's in preparation for the bigger task ahead in their formative years. Practicality speaking, you may really need to set aside additional budget for pre-school. If one of the parents are stay-at-home, then they themselves can teach their children. It is also about exposing your child to different environment so they can learn how to be independent early. :)

Unless there are monetary problems and time constraints, I don't think it would be a good idea to skip nursery education. Nursery education is like laying the foundations of your child. This step would impart in him/her good social skills which could come handy in the next levels.
