Silly post here actually but I am thrilled. I've been playing with mylot for the last 2 days but with this assignment I won't be here much. Will most likely pop in from time to time when I need a break from the other. I would like to know how others manage their time. Do you set limits as to how much time you spend on mylot? Goals are important when writing do you set time goals for yourselves? Such as "I'm going to write for 8 hours today" or "I'm going to spend 2 hours researching". I would love to know what others do.

I leave this to my intuition. If it tells me to stop doing what I am doing - I listen. It almost always is right. I advise you to do the same. Trust yourself, but only if you know yourself.

Very grateful about you choosing my response as the best one. I just normaly do that and that was the first thing on my mind when I read your post. I've always trusted myself. Thanks again.

You are very welcome, I trusted my intuition. Most all of the responses were very good and it was a difficult decision.

byfaithonly - Way to go! No doubt you are one smart lady. Hope your project is coming along well. A few discussions on mylot can be a good stress relief if the ebook gets challenging. You also might be able to find some ideas here.

Thank you djbtol, I am plugging away but getting into a time crunch now, been playing on mylot too much. I have actually gotten some great help from mylot members for ideas - I posted a discussion asking and I got answers (thank you all). What I need most is a timer on my computer that blocks mylot when I've been here too long:)

Congratulations:) i hope it's going good by now, maybe you should start a discussion about it and how this works, etc... Anyway I'm not good at managing time, I like to do things spontaneously, If i really don't have to go out or do other things I will just read and post at mylot whenever i have the time and as long as I'm not too tired to continue :)

I wish I could stick to the goals that I make...I have the best intentions and want to but seems like I always end up doing other things. I have to say, though, today I actually spent 6 hours straight cleaning house; my son's rooms and bathrooms, kitchen... I'm very proud of myself. Now if I can just keep it up I won't have to work so hard at it next time...lol

Good job girl, proud of you. I spent 2 hours on mylot yesterday and the rest of the day working on assignment. Today not doing so well, been here 3 hours and haven't touched writing assignment - determined though off here by noon and rest of day and night working,

I have known people like you not particularly with writing but with any thing and I admire that they can accomplish all they do. And thank you for the congrats, I'm excited but nervous, this will be the 3rd one I've done but I don't have a lot of self-confidence.

I usually plan 2-3 hours on here daily. I figure 1 for looking, 1-2 for writing. That usually gets me at least 15 posts a day. I like to write for quality as well as for the money.

That's me too, more for quality. There are many discussions that I read through and then just move on because I can't think of something new or meaningful to say. I'm pretty smart but there are a lot of discussions that I don't even know what they are talking about much less be able to respond.

No rules for me about MyLot. Some day I spend here a loto fhours just reading, other day I write a lot of posts, sometime I am here for few minutes, dometime for hours. This is not a job, it's for fun so no rules. I do what I feel minute by minute.

I am kind of a spur of the moment type person so I might make a list of things that need to be done but I wont set time aside for anything I'll just get to everything when Im ready and eventually its all done and I can just relax.

LOL I'm kinda like that, I make lists with the best of intentions but 1st thing on the list I'll get side tracked on something else and end up getting nothing on my list done. I also find I spend too much time making my list so am actually trying to break myself of that habit.

What kind of topics do you write, byfaithonly? I'm interested in knowing more about your ebooks.

Wowee! Well done! I love Mylot because I can write and enjoy myself at the same time. It sometimes helps me through a period when I'm struggling to find the words. How do you get these ebook assignments? Are you freelance? I've found some good online sites that I write for, and have sold an ebook to an online publisher, but I'm on royalties there so who knows what the response will be? Well done though - sounds like you're doing well!

Yes, I freelance. I found a business last summer, really small, mom and pop deal almost but they are good at what they do. They deal with finding the work, dealing with the money stuff, and with the clients leaving me to do what I love to do: research and writing. That's great about your ebook, even though you don't have money in your hands you could end up far better than me.

Wow! Congratulations!! I'm shocking managing my time at home but if i'm at work i'm not too bad! I usually go with the good-o "to-do" list and just put next to each thing i want to complete each day a goal time ... or a maximum time that i can spend on it. Sometimes it works ... but sometimes I just seem to throw it out the window as I just get too frustrated with it! Prioritising is probably the best advice i can give you. Good luck!!

Thank you very much. The last ebook I did the price started out I would get $300 but the client came back and wanted more of their own ideas added, got an additional $200 for that, then they came back and wanted more, another $200. The manager of the company I write for said we would not do this again - the client had to give us what they wanted upfront before we/I would start work on it and he negociated the $700 price from the start. Prioritise, that's the word I needed - I need to figure out how to do that with my writing. Didn't get to bed until 4:30 a.m. and up at 7 a.m.
