Have you even heard of it?

The Tripods was a trilogy of books written by John Christopher, and was partially adapted for Television by the BBC. I say partially, because the series was cancelled after the adaption of book 2! However, what was made was a great achievement for the BBC, managing to create superb special effects for the time. Anyone else remember it? Nick

I read the original trilogy when I was a kid, and loved all three books. I wasn't too keen on the TV series - too many liberties taken with the plot, too much emphasis on special effects (although the SFX were good) and too padded out. A few months ago I was luck enough to pick up not only the original trilogy second hand, but also the prequel ("When the Tripods Came") which I'd never read. I read them all as soon as I could and loved them as much as an adult as I did when I was a kid. There's supposed to be a film in the works but I'm always a bit apprehensive of Hollywood adaptations.
