The book is about the life of the Phantom of the Opera from birth to death and is written amazingly well. I've read the book five times (on my sixth) and am amazed that I haven't found anyone else who loves it.

Thanks so much for your recommendation. I didn't know such a book existed :) I must say it captivated me from the very beginning and I spent like four hours in the night reading the first half (I had to put it down then and go to bed in order to get enough sleep for the next day). I've only reached so far as Persia but I'm really looking forward to getting back from work so that I could read the rest. Thanks again for the discovery :)

I just finished it (late night again :) ). What can I say, it left me speechless. Both because of its intensity (the roof moment is simply amazing) and of the unexpected ending. I really admire what Susan Kay has managed to build only on the few details presented in the original novel. I cannot thank you enough for recommending me this book, I liked it tremendously :)

That's a nice reccommendation! My sister loves to read about the Phantom of the Opera, she didn't know about that I'm sure. I will let her know about it!

Unfortunately it's out of print and hard to find. Check e-bay though, that is where I found my copy after my original was lost.
