ground hog day

Today is ground hog day. On this day every year someone takes a groundhog out to see if the animal will see it's shadow. If it sees it's shadow it means that spring will be late. The groundhog did not see it's shadow this year, meaning an early spring. Do you think there could be anything to this tradition?

I was curious to know what exactly happened i personally thank you for this post as i always seem to get confused as to what it means when if he sees his shadow or not...LOL! I think that it proves worthy of being true and i for one sure hope for an early spring as we had a rather cold and snowy winter!

Sometimes it come's true, but I have seen where sometimes it don't. I think it is neat how they try to base spring's comming on an animal though. Thanks for reminding me I had forgotten about it. I hope that we do see an early spring.

i dont think there is any truth to that because it took awhile for winter to hit so i think it will be awhile for spring to get here
