We are about to get an Iguana. It's 3&1/2 feet long. My husband has had reptiles before but i haven't. I was just wondering if anyone could give us some tips on taking good care of it. What is the best diet for an Iguana? I want it to be healthy and happy. I'm sure the guy giving it to us will have some tips but any additional info would be helpful from other people who have owned iguanas and know about them first hand. Thanks!

My iguana's ate stuff like lettuce, romaine lettuce, all kind of veggies and fruits, and then this iguana foos in a can. pet stores carry iguana food.. I really suggest you look online for some information on how to care for iguana's. you will need to give it fresh water and food daily and clean it's cage. they do have leashes made for iguana's. I used to take mine for a walk.. also, they need a heat lamp and heat rock. you can also get alot of good info from calling up a pet store or going there and speaking with someone and just ask them how to care for one.. they sometimes like the bath tub, just dont fill it up too much, my iguana's used to love to play in the tub..

I read in a book that lettuce is not good for them. It doesn't have any nutritional value. I'm now giving mine mustard greens, collard greens, and yellow squash. I'll put a blueberry or two in there also. He seems to like this food alot.
