Is daydreaming healthy?

I've always loved daydreaming. But now, I'm trying myself to lessen it a little bit because it's not healthy anymore. Sometimes I make my own stories and wish that it will come true. And then later I will be confused if something happening is true or just a daydream. :)

daydreams are nautral and good for you and for some yes they could be not soo good. Daydreaming takes people away even if just for a moment from there natural normal hetic lifes. butsome people go way overboard in the day dream and they think that there lefe is worthless beacuse of the way that they dream it could be so it makes them unhappy. I think that it is pefectly normal to daydream up stories AS long as you know the difference between whats real and whats not

I dont think theres any negative health issues with daydreaming, I do it all the time lol. I think actually it could be positive, maybe it could help take a way some stress from your day. In regards to mixing daydreaming up with real life, thats no big deal lol. You can figure it out later =P

This is how I became a writer. I started by telling some friends a dream I had. But I didn't actually have the dream while I was sleeping. It was a story I made up in my mind about me and a boy I had a crush on. I spoke for an hour telling this story. Then I started telling stories to my best friend about the two of us and the guys we had crushes on (this was in high school). From there were started writing them down. Our first big story that was a group effort consisted of members of the Toronto Maple Leafs hockey team being different characters like cops, kidnappers, teachers, etc., and of course we were in the story as well. It was really quite funny thinking of certain guys as bumbling kidnappers. And so a writer was born. All fictional stories have a bit of truth to them. We write what we know. We take our personal experiences and expound on them, exaggerate them, make them more interesting or even finish and unfinished experience. It is so much fun. You really should write your fantasies down. You never know, you could have the next best seller on your hands... or in your head!

It doesn't sound unhealthy. It just sounds like you have a vivid imagination. Perhaps you might feel better about it if you were to write down your thoughts. Maybe you might find a new career as a short story writer. You never know.

Haha, I'm so guilty of daydreaming A LOT _ But personally I don't think it's unhealthy. Just be careful when to take a break. If at times you think you end up getting confused, be sure to check up on yourself.

All I do is daydream. I am content to sit out the whole night inside my mind. As far as healthy there is only one side-affect that I would considder detrimental in any way -- over concentrating on one thing lessens the ability to think up new innovative thoughts. For example, say you thought up a new monetary banking system, but once you have everything down perfect it can be really hard to think up new thoughts. I also noticed this "over conentration" can cause quite a disconnect from normal emotional human interaction. If daydreaming is taking a break from physical reality then aparently there is a need to take a break away from non-physical reality if that's the only place you hang out. I find that if I concentrate on thinking nothing at all (i.e. meditating) that it seems to solve the problem.
