myLot got so slow the past few hours, I went over to Yahoo! Answers while I have been waiting for pages to load on myLot. It amazes me how many kids pay for music on iTunes, and never back it up. They reformat their hard drives then want to know how to get back their music So, how often do you back up your computer? What do you use to back it up- DVD, CD, ZIP drive, flash drive, external hard drive?

Guilty as charged, I don't do it often enough. Even tho my old computer crashed and I lost everything, including all my itunes files. I have a Mac so use a Zip drive, as soon as I got my new computer I made sure everything was backed up, but that was over a year ago now and I haven't updated the backups, that's a job I must do, before I live to regret it as I did last time!

Hey Wolfie, let this serve as a reminder, to do a backup before the weekend is over. You may thank me for this!

Pretty much all I do in On Line. Anything I have on my computer is reinstallable and reloadable. Anything that needs kept is printed out if not kept on line. Still a basic girl and like the machine to just do its job. Which is make my life easier!

Wow, I hardly print anything. And I would hate to lose my pictures and music. I agree letting the machine do it's job (that is why I like that Mac) I was backing up to my online storage, then my hard drive stuff got to big. Need to buy a new hard drive, a huge one.

Once a week, you are good. I understand on the virus thing, sort of. But I went with a Mac to get away from that, so it is not my concern.

I'm usually backup my computer not using a time period, but using harddisk space as parameter, when my harddisk space become critical, I usually than get confuse backing up my computer, luckly I'm usually always organise all my download files and the others, so what I need to do is just measure the size to fit with my CDR or DVDR.

You are lucky that you have not lost data if you wait until the hard drive is critical. I have seen peole do that, then there was not enough available space to run a backup. They had to copy and delete files by hand.

My computer backs up the home folder every day at 1:00 automatically and does a full system backup once a month. Having lost everything in a crash before, I am a big proponent of backing up now.

Well yoou learned your llesson the hardway, but at least you did learn it. You know backing up data, nearly insures that you will not have another crash.
