Do Ants Smell?

I guess I have never thought about the fact that they might have an odor. I will have to pay closer attention next time I am around ants to see if I smell them. They sure seem to have a keen sense of smell. If I so much as drop a crumb on the floor and don´t pick it right up, they seem to materialize out of nowhere to eat the crumb. They have to have come from outside because they weren´t inside before I dropped the crumb. I have to admit that I must not have a very keen sense of smell because I have never smelled them or if I did, I didn´t realize it. This is a very interesting subject to me.

I never thought about it and I have a pretty good sense of smell , we get an odd 3 or 4 in the house most years but a couple of years ago I went upstairs and there were hundreds in my bedroom under the window , I didn't know what to do as I hated the thought of them getting in my bed to I vacuumed them up lol , it was a bag type at the time and Input the bag in the bin , I must have done a good job because there were none in the bed , I didn't smell them though , xx

Yes, some of them do or maybe all but some are not as bad as the others. Some of them smell like pee and it makes me want to puke. There are also ants that don't smell until you squash them. I hate to do it but I can't help. Everyone hates ants and I don't understand why ant farms are popular to some kids.

I don't think you can smell them just like that but if you catch one and squeeze it, it does smell and if you eat an ant, they taste sour. Yes, I've eaten ants before. lol

yes they do have smell.You are not mad lol.Whenever they eat some food in our kitchen ,they leave some pungent smell to it.So yes they do have smell.
