I had been receiving tons of forward mail from my friends and strangers. Some of them are chain letters. Usually the contents are like "you need to send out to 10 friends within 2 days, or you will having bad luck....". At first i was surprised by this kind of contents and follow as what it ask us to do, fearing that we "really" meet our bad day. But after some time, i think it's just an absurd thing created by nonsense people. How could these electronic copy of email can affect our real life? I think it's just an psychological effect on us. Our life is in our hand to decide, if we think we are lucky, then we will be, and vice versa if we think we are having bad luck. So, what you people think? Now i just delete the chain mail when i see it :)

You are right. We need to becareful when opening mail especially those with attachment. If we install the latest anti-virus software, then we shouldn't worry about it, coz usually a good anti-virus software have a email scan guard. I am more concerned on the chain email, which is threatening people to keep sending it out. It's worse than virus spreading. Thanks for your response.

Hi there Ikbooi *hug, Oh my God, i hate emails like that. Some of our friends never understand that those email are just for collecting our data for spamming. I always mark them as a spam when they are arrived, sad really, Why are we sending curses to our own friends? and why are those people send it back to others like there is nothing wrong with that. I just can't understand this situation, I just though that people with emails are global people, modern people that don't have to believe such a curse in emails. Those letters make me upset. I always mark as spam when emails like that arrived at my yahoomail. Happy posting dear!! oxox'dian

Hi diansinta, I believe no one likes those chain emails with malicious motive. If we wouldn’t want our friends to get into inconvenience and trouble we ought to delete them at once and stop forwarding these spam emails to them all together. I notice that there is a change of content in the chain emails I received recently. Most of the emails I received requesting us to pray and bless for those unfortunate sufferers and victims of disaster to get spiritual supports and blessing. Of course this is something quite reasonable. I did forward some of these when I come across any deserved cases. posting and good luck.

I get a few chain letters from family and friends, but they tend to be the funny ones, not the threatening ones. They really have no power, they're just e-mails! All the horror stories that people tell are just urban legends. I just hit 'delete' if I get ones like that.

I received funny one as well. But i hate those horror and threatening one most. I think the chain mail creator purpose is to make fun of all of us. Sometimes, i will still read and enjoy the fun part of the email contents, and after reading it, i will delete the threatening part and keep forward it to my friends. (basically is make it become a non-chain letter). Thanks for your response :)

I think it is strange that people actually believe in such stuff. Quit absurd to think that an email will get you good or bad luck(I think of this as a form of blackmail:)! But by the volume of chain mail i get from my friends, I find it surprising that so many people have such superstitions in this age of reason. However if a mail is funny or good, i do forward it.

Yeah, that's why i am surprised too. I have so many friends keep forwarding me all these chain emails. Some of these are really scary and i was almost convinced to keep forwarding out to avoid bad luck. But on second thought, same as you, these are just fake story. How can an electronic mail can affect our fate. Infact, our fate lie in our hand and won't be changed by simply sending out an email, right? So far it's good that most of the people in mylot don't believe in chain mail :) Thanks for your response btw.

It depends, but 99% of the time I delete them. I dislike the classic chainmail that says something bad will happen to you when you break the chain, I feel like it's a stupid threath and it actually scares small children and some adults and that's why they sent it on.I think that's nonsence and that's why I don't forward them. Occaissonaly I will get an e-mail with not threath inside, just a lovely message about friendship and love that asks you to sent it around to your friends to let them know how much you care. No strings attached. Not sure if this meets the requirements for a chainmail but I do forward those from time to time.

Yeah, it’s nice to notice that nowadays people seem to be more mature and tend not to do things that are meaningless. This morning I have received a chain letter which is written in Chinese. It’s the valuable information that teaches us how to reduce the harms caused by the faulty descending lift in a high building. Since it’s so useful so I forward it without any hesitation. posting and take care.

Yeah cyberfluf, I do feel irritated every time receiving this nonsense chain email with evil curse. In those earlier days people with mischievous motive like to do such silly thing, so we would be fooled by these people. Of course nowadays I seldom receive such email anymore. Presently most of the time I receive only emails related to health, joke, advises on nutrition, unique and ridiculous photos, interesting stories etc. They mostly ask me to forward to a certain numbers of friends but without any curse anyway. I would like to share these useful or amusing emails with my loved ones and friends, so I always forward these to them straight away posting and have a nice day.

I often receive such chair mail or text messages. However, I suppose these kind of mail or messages are irrelevant and does not make any sense. I do not forward these kind of messages to anyone, even if I find a warning in the message that if I do not forward it to 20 persons, I may have some bad luck. I believe, whatever has to happen, will happen, irrespective of forwarding the message or otherwise.

You are very much welcome dpk. I notice that you do mylot posting in the same way as well. To my mind our discussions are just like our beloved kids, and no matter how old they are, as a parent, we yet have to take good care of them, right? I feel really happy that my 3 year-old gal till could arouse your great interest to pay a visit to her. You are really a nice person . Thanks for giving her a chance to have a breath of fresh air.

I hate chain letters and emails and delete them on the spot. I don't forward them to others, and despite all manner of silly*threats* I will happily delete them. Hardly a week goes by without me finding at least one of these wretched things in my inbox and I have asked all my friends not to send them to me in the hope that it will stop.

I utterly agree with you, no one here would ever like to receive those chain letters with words of threats and evil curses. Recently I did find some chain letters from those unknown persons in my mail box. I wonder how they had got my email address. Without even having a glimpse on them I delete them right without any hesitation. Happy posting and enjoy life.

I also delete chain letters whether thru text messages or e-mail...they're a waste of time and of money...I don't need to forward them because anyway, I don't believe in them. I agree...some of these are psychological only..or purely coincidental if indeed an event comes true...

I often receive forward mails like this.. but the glance of it make me irritating and i never believe in it.. May be month ago, i got one SMS from my friend.. stressing in the value of a good friend.. and she asked me to send the same to 100 friends whom i feel close to my heart.... and said if at least 10 such friends send the same message to you.. which means you are a good friend.. What i did was.. I messaged her.. "How can 100 friends/persons be close to my heart.. close to heart.. what does it mean for you.. And also, sending 100 sms's cost me Rs 100/-( nearly $2.5) who is to bear this unnecessary expense for me? " Then she kept silent and after which she stopped sending emails like this. Take care friend.

Hi saivenkaat, I believe your friend who forwarded the sms to you definitely is not your friend whom you feel close to your heart As I know a true good friend would never give such trouble or inconvenience to her friend anyway. Frankly speaking, it would be a tough time for us to get hundred friends whom are close to our heart. In consideration of the sending expenses the charge is terrible, nearly $2.5 USD. It would take me nearly a week to do my posting here to get the amount. Moreover I always disagree with these chain emails as they are mainly spams which carry no value and significance at all, and never bring any benefit to the receiver. What you had remarked on her chain email was really up to point and effective posting and take care.
