Well, actually this question still haunts my mind. Why do Organisations ban or put a firewall on website like Yahoo!, GMail, HOTMAIL, ORKUT etc. at workplaces ?? IS it that they don't trust their employees or are they being over cautious ???

Well, how about the simple fact that they're paying you to work, and if you're bopping around on the internet you're not working? I don't understand why people think they should be allowed to play on company time.

Kunal, after hours is your own business. But why would you be on the company computer then? As for breaks, if the company filters the popular sites, then you'll have to find some other way to use your time. It's not a matter of whether it's ethical for the company to do thin (maybe ethical isn't the word you really meant). It's their time, their computers, their business. They have the right to do what they want, within the law.

i have worked in a big call center in hamburg. i was a teamleader for a group about 12 coworkers. and our organisation banned many websides. and i think it´s comprehensible, cause 1 year in the first year of this organisation we got every internet access. so the coworkers were surfing in internet or check their private emails and all work it be needed for layed down for this time. we have checked that and you can calculate all times of your coworkers workstations. and we have found out, that more than 1 hour and 20 minutes the coworkers aren´t profically working. and a group of collegues with 12 people, aren´t productive for 16 hours a day. at first i was very sceptical, but all this informations were true. i think that´s no point of trusting. it´s a point of professionell working if you want to be profitable with your workings.
