you know, we have had our two oscars for 11 months. Almost a year. They areabout 3 or 4 inches long. What could be wrong? They are in a 55 gallon tank.People say they grow fast and they are big fish.Does anybody know what is wrong with mine???

if you want them to grow faster it depends on what they eat feed them live feeders it would be very fast for them to grow bigger feed them pellets and you will notice it will take a longer time for them to grow

You know, 55 gallons for two Oscars isn't really a whole lot of extra space...do they have any tank mates??? My experience dictates that Oscars will gobble up as much as you feed them, and they grow larger on feeder fish than they do pellets. You could start out with guppies and build up to comets, but yeah, live feeder fish are going to help them put on the weight.

Your aquarium is large enough since you only have two oscars. The person from whom you bought the fish, did he give you tips on their proper feeding? You should have asked. The tank will have to be cleaned from time to time. Wash the filters every third day and sip the dirt which accumulates at the bottom of the tank with a siphon. Add sufficient water each day as you'll lose some due to evaporation. Maybe you will have to feed them twice a day, in the early morning and late afternoon. Never give too much food. Give little by little, so as to make sure everything is consumed, excess food which the fish will not eat will do so much harm if left inside the tank. Oscars need high protein food in addition to the regular fish food. You will have to ask your local pet shop on this regard, what we have in our country may not be available in yours.
