Participating in mylot really improves my english especially written english since i am not a native speaker. Although, i am an university student and studying english literature i seldom practice english in my place. Then i begin to loose my english skill. But i am grateful that i found mylot and begin to improve my english. I think mylot is very useful especially to non english native speaker.

I guess it works for all of us. Even those who are native speaker of English, are not hundred percent fluent in terms of writing skills. You may find a lot who use coloquial english terms and shortcut words like people (ppl), etc. So we must be thankful that mylot have made a guideline about language to be used. Cheers!

It's really good to know, dave_lie! that you find this forum useful for improving your english writing skills. Writing ability is a skill rather an art, an art to present one's views in as best organized way as possible. An art to use the right word at right place, in right structure and grammer and in right combination with other words taking into account the intended purpose. one's ability to express and communicate, at it's best, depends on the skill one has, to articulate the words and phrases skillfully and intelligently that goes with the environment and purpose as well as the subject at hand. This skill or art can be improved with time by practice and you are right that this forums provides that very practicing ground. It's not only true for the foreign people but also for the native people, as human capability, skill and intellect evolves with knowledge and experience. the more you write, the more errors you make, the more you observe and analyse them and the more you correct yourself. and this very process is true for native and non native people alike. For me too, english is not the first language. specially when i came to europe (France) my english deteriorated to a great extent. I too find this forum very helpful for the very purpose of improving writing skills. i still make lot of errors and i am not at all skilled at communicating my views but still i believe that with time i'll get better and better. Wish you best of luck.
