I think it's niceto know where the tradions for Valentines started. This tradition also goes back to Bishop Valentine, whilst awaiting his execution he fell in love with his jailors daugher Asterius, she was blind and as an act of faith Valentine restored her vision. Just before his execution he wrote her a farewll message "from your Valentine". after this many young romans wrote to their beloved with their affectionate greetings. The First Valentines card was sent in 1415AD by Charles Duke of Orleans. Will you send you loved one a card and/or present this year?

No I won't be, lol. My Valentines Gift to him is my Heart, which he knows he has got. To me that is Valentines Day is about, giving your Love, which you do all year round, but on this Day it is there even more to show.

Don't think that a paper Valentine will be on our docket. We do usually celebrate with a bit of different dinner. Since it is on a Wednesday, we will celebrate on probably Saturday with dinner out. The kids and us you know. The kids when little would create paper Valentines and present them to us. Now we get a box of chocolate each mine a bit larger than the kids and go from there. Do love the Saint Valentine story though!!

It's wonderful that you make it into a family thing, itnot not so much sending a card to everyone to say have a happy valentine in England. We just send them to people we fancy. I hope you have a lovely evening and lots of tasty choccies!

Yes, I will be giving my Valentine a card this year. It is a humourous one, but more of an inside joke that we both share .. :) And thank you for sharing a bit of the holiday's history, I'm going to blog about it on the 14th. Cheers!
