Do you feed the birds in your garden, if so what birds have you seen?

I am quite lucky as I have two cats but as yet they don't seem interested in the birds which come to my garden to feed. I have a lovely little Robin who's really friendly, if i sit outside he will come very close to eat. I have also seen Blackbirds, Doves, House Sparrows, Blue T..., (MyLot wont let me put this word in?!) Pigeons and plenty of seagulls on my bird table. February can be a difficult month for birds, There's not much food around for them. Do you feed the birds in your garden, if so what birds have you seen? Hmm, unfortunately our cats are not the same as yours, they are extremely interested in birds and other animals which are fair game in their territory, so we don't see birds in our garden sadly.

My cats never did bother with the birds in the garden, in fact my big male cat was such a lazy lad he would let them hop right up to him and even peck a few flies off his fur .. he just couldn't be bothered to take a swipe at them .. I've even seen a bird peck his head .. and all he did was come inside and flop down give a big deep sigh and fall back to sleep in seconds ..

I use to, but my girls have taken over that job from me, LOL. The kids steal the heel off the bread and uneaten biscuts to toss out there for them every other day. Here it is Feb. and I still keep forgetting to pick up some bird seed for the bird feeder. We have black birds, fenches and some others I couldn't tell you what they were. We also have Hawks! So while we love seeing those fly, I think they are running most of our birds away.

Thank you for supplying us with the website for the recipe. It also gives some great information regarding feeding birds. The recipe will come in handy to we frugal people. The suet cakes at the store go about $1. each. It can become costly to replace the empty feeders in the yard.

We feed ours very often, especially in the winter. We get sparrows, rain doves, cardinals, blue jays, ravens, robins, and there are even hawks that perch on the fence overlooking the feeder to look for other birds and the squirrels/occasional rats that also like the feed.

My family loves to feed the birds which visit the tree outside our kitchen window..and the bunnies which coss the little yard which the tree belongs to. Anyway, lemme think here..we get cardinals, blue jays, black jays, wrens, gold finches, sparrows, crows, starlings..umm..a few others but that's all I can remember right now.

I love watching the birds at our feeders and I can watch them right from my home office. It's a great way to relax my eyes after staring at the screen so long. We have a lot of cats that love our nice big yard as there is lot so ambush spots for them to try and get a bird or two. I must say either the slow ones have all been taken or the they are getting much smarter and faster. We do have a BlueJay that chases the cats pretty good but also chases other pretty birds.

I use a plain piece of slat board which is strung up by a chain and I keep it full at all times. I love birds. I have two windows where i can sit and watch them and its wonderful. We always have a garden in the spring and summer and sometimes they play in it, and they have been known to nip a bite of tomatoe from time to time...lol
