Watching my points slide downward.

This is interesting but no entirely unexpected. It would be nice to know how points go up and down, but in the end it probably doesn't matter much. Has anyone else figured out how the deduction of points is triggered? Is ths another mystery?

Well in regards to points if you do respond to other discussions that are too old you will then lose points as this happened to me before as well and when I realized what I had done then it never happened again, so just watch which ones you are responding to and you will be ok and it is no mystery. If the discussion is older than 3 weeks then do not respond to it!!

Well that makes no sense. I would think the admin would like to see all discussions answered, but I will remember your pointers on that. Thanks

This question has been asked in a 100 different ways and from what I have seen this is another myLot mystery. A new discussion was opened on the topic that the reason we cant see our points in the new system without either posting or going into our profile is so that we will stop asking questions about the points system.. Who knows she may be correct.

Are you talking about our number of posts or our start points? I think I didn't type the question very well...I was asking about the star points. I really think I am dealing with some cultural issues with some of these sites that I have started using. My expecttions for disclosure are not the same for those running the sites.

As far as i understand it my friend they are deducted when you have answered to a discussion that has been duplicated. When mylot do its spring cleaning act towards the end of each month they get rid of the coppied discussions so consequently all responses to these illegitimate discussions are also deleted and points reduced as a result. This is what mylot told me when i contacted them about it anyway blessed be

Sage, I was unaware of a "points" system. Where do you find them? Or is that what the stars above members heads are? I saw someone else discussing that recently. I always forget to bookmark discussions that I have replied to, so if you have the time to private message me with a response, I would be more than appreciative ~Donna

The star rating or 'reputation' as mylot calls it is the average of +s and -s we get, also how many "best responses" we get might effect it in + too. Usually there's no drastic changes with the number on the star or the rate but some people takes things personally and give -s where it shouldn't be used. Mylot advice using this only to spam of unrelated responses, "I agree" and similar short replies, etc. you shouldn't be worried about minor changes it can go up again very soon .

It's another mystery to me. Though it's sortof comforting the mylot system's impartial and does it to everyone. I always thought the mylot staff people go through the discussions..kinda randomly, and they take points off or put on some, depending if your responses are great or not (we've all pretty much had low points which make us type crappily..or say not so nice things if we were feeling sick or something..other times we have a brilliant moment or two..and post lots of gems)..but I don't know. It's sortof like their paying system..it used to be that ten posts got me twelve or so cents..but now, all of the sudden they equal a whole dollar. I'm not complaining..but I don't know how it happened.
