I can remember my dad would take us on a ride sometimes on a Sunday afternoon. My sister and I would sit in the back seat and pretend to yawn and say i i i c e c r e a m m m .
We were trying to hint to him to stop for ice cream!
Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't.

Honestly when it comes to Dad, I only have few memories of him. When I was growing up my Dad wasn't around because he is in a foreign country working. But I do remember that whenever it's his vacation he will make it a point to walk me to school. I also remember, he wasn't around on my 18th birhtday.

I don't really have any. I had a pretty rotten childhood. He did convince my mom to let us get a puppy twice, so that was nice, that I got to have a puppy. But my mom would get rid of them after 6 months, but they were nice dogs. Thinking back, it was a poor decision on my dad's part, but I cherished those dogs while we did have them.

I have too many memories of my Dad to write about.
I loved sitting in the Diner with him for breakfast so many mornings.
He would read the paper and handed me the comics.
I loved that each Christmas season he would always buy a box of chocolate covered cherries with the clear filling and we would share a few pieces a night until the box was gone.
I loved how my Dad, after 4 failed marriages, decided to raise me on his own and tell any woman that was interested in him that he already had the lady in his life that he needed and it was me.
I loved how he encouraged and had faith in me when I received a failing grade on a progress report and he told me that he wasn't made because he knew me and how I felt about grades and would raise the grade before report cards...I did...to an A.
I love the times that he would smile and poke at me asking if I was in the mood for a Pepsi float. We would then sit there with big grins on our faces eating and watching TV together.
I loved my Dad dearly....and I miss him very much!

When it would get cold like now and the water had ponded in part of the field and frozen solid. He would get out his Datsun truck and take each of us for doughnuts out on the ice. He was a truckdriver so he could swing that little truck around in circles. So much fun!! I used to tease him that he held that little truck together with all the stickers he had on it.

I think mine was when I was younger and I went fishing with him. I was a tomboy when I was young girl. Untill I got my hook stuck on to his shirt and then the fishing stopped. I am scared now to go fishing to take the fish off of the hooks lol.

I blog about my dad a lot... he gave me plenty to write about LOL He had the BEST sense of humor and he loved to laugh more than anything. I vividly remember how we'd be sitting at the dinner table and something would get us all laughing. My dad would literally laugh until the tears were running down his face. He'd have to take off his glasses and wipe his eyes... and he'd just keep right on laughing. He was a REALLY big man, my dad was, and he reminded me a lot of Santa Claus - he shook when he laughed "like a bowl full of jelly" :) In fact, when my sister and I were young, he WAS Santa Claus at his work Christmas party... he could fill the suit with no padding so he was pretty authentic! ;) We have photos of him and he looked just amazing in that lovely red suit! One year, I was sitting on his knee at the party and my little necklace got caught in his beard (I was either 4 or 5 years old)! Well, there I was pulling back and pulling back and my mom (who was in the 'audience') and my dad, as Santa, were FREAKING that I would pull off his beard and realize it was my own father! LOL He tried real hard never to give us any hints... he even wore white gloves with the costume so that we wouldn't recognize his hands or his wedding ring. My dad loved to help with anything to do with children (he was always the head of the planning committee for activities for the employees' kids and he was also an active member of the Shriner's, visiting our local Shriner's hospital to see the kids there -- he would come home and cry, though, sometimes because it was heartbreaking). He was a good man, my dad. I was lucky to have him. He didn't live long enough (he passed away at 53 from a massive heart attack) but he had a profound and very positive influence on the person I am now. Thanks for giving me a reason to think of him today, devideddi :D

I don't have too many good ones... family trips often had a lot of yelling, involved. But he did used to work on old cars in the garage. I liked to help him. He taught me how to change tires, change spark plugs and wires, change my oil, and a lot of other things. So that was pretty beneficial.
