Do You Believe In Fate?

February 3, 2007 9:35pm CST
I have often wondered about things that have happened in my life and sometimes I believe it is fate that has led me to where I am. Do you believe the same has happened for you or do you believe life is just a mystery tour that holds no such logic and its just the chances we take that leads us to where we are?

I do believe in fate. I honestly don't think that there are any coincidences in life. If you look hard enough at the things you have learned and the people you meet, a lot of things will start to make sense. There are lessons I learned a good 5-10 years ago that are just now fitting into my life, things that at the time I had no idea why they happened in my life. I love watching the puzzle of my life come together! I'm really nervous right now about a lot of things, mostly because I know how hard it is going to be for me to become less shy, but I know that life is leading me where I am meant to go, especially if I do my best to follow my instincts. ^_^

I hope that your puzzle fits together snuggly and whatever the future holds for you is a bright one. I left for you a website to look at on your Shy discussion I hope it is helpful. Thanks for your response.

I've been reading a book by Joe Vitale titled The Attractor Factor. He basically says that we attract to ourselves what we get. If you concentrate on negative, you will attract negative. Concentrate on positive and you will attract positive. We can change things in our life with our mindset. I recommend this book for anyone who wants positive change in their life. I think maybe we create our own fate, at least partially.

This sounds interesting, although I know some really happy positive people and they have the most crappiest lives. I often think about children who have no say in how their lives are and why they have some of the toughest times. Is it then just our fate to have the lives we have. Thanks for all your responses to my discussions. I really appreciate it.

I think that we often reach a crossroads and take a decision only to reach another crossroads later on but eventually all our journeys lead to the same place regardless of our decisions. I think we can control little things but the big things are probably pre-ordained.

I agree with you. Fate can put us somewhere, but we can still choose whether to stay or go. Thanks.

Ok going out on a limb here and sounding really crazy, I do believe in fate. My belief is, our lives were pre-planed with God before we were born. I have this belief from personal experiences in life. Things that happened that should have been a shock that was not. Does that make sense? I feel, as if, I know of these things before they happen, yet I am not psychic at all. It's an inner knowing, almost like an expectation of the events before they have occurred. Any way, I think there are no mistakes, every thing we do is within our own unique plan. All we need to do is live it and experience it.

I agree with you that sometimes you just know what is going to happen before it does. I am not religious so I suppose I look at it from a different prospective. I believe things happen for a reason and often when things are going really bad something comes along and makes it alright again. I remember watching the film Sliding Doors and it did make me think what my life would have turned out like if I had chose a different path. Or has fate led me in this direction? Thanks!!!!

I believe in fate to an extent. I think that for the most part, what happens to us is open and we determine our fate through our actions and by the way we think. However, I think sometimes certain things in life are pre-ordained, meant to happen, and that's when "fate" steps in. But, I believe those times are rare, because if they aren't, then there's really no meaning to life. Why do it when the outcome is already set? It's like cheating at solitaire.

This is true. Maybe we are some what guided, but it is our own decisions that have the final outcome. Thanks for your thoughts!!

i strongly believe in fate for everything.especially in case of love and relationships.i am still single its fate and nothing else.i am good looking , had boyfriends from time to time but i missed love in their eyes, that was fate for me,i guess.my other friends are not even good looking , not successful like me but they have good boyfriends and they are getting married soon. you can't force anyone to love you that is fate.to get a good job is something different, if u are capable to do it ,u get it one day.

Mr Right is still out there waiting for you and one day fate will take its course and you will find him!! Thanks ;]

I don't believe in fate, I believe in God. I think He has a purpose for each of our lives and He directs us toward that purpose.

Yes I do believe in fate but I also believe this. When my Mom was in the hospital dying (when I was 19) a nun was there and she said that God has a book for each one of us and it has a beginning and an end. It says when we will be born and when we will die and we can't do a thing to change that. Some of you may not believe that but I do. It comforted me when I heard that because I was even more sure that she was going home to God and heaven. But yes I do believe in fate. Things happen for strange reasons sometimes.

Life is such a mystery, we all have our own ways of understanding it. I suppose some of us will have leaflets, short stories or epic novels, but it is the contents that counts!! Thanks for your insight :)

FATE? DESTINY? well they are real maybe, but dont be too sure that these have lead you to where you are because its you who made the decisions on where you would go not the destiny.
11 Feb 07
Do you not find it weird though that if you had not made a decision on one aspect of your life, alot of other things would not have happened either. I often wonder if I had not certain people at certain times my life would be so different now. I'm sure I wouldn't be in the career I am in now. Thanks for your response.

fate exists but it can only take you so far.. 'cause one you're there, it's up to you to make it happen.. it isn't wrong to believe in fate.. but it's wrong to depend your whole life on it..
11 Feb 07
This is true. I only believe in fate once it has happened and I look back and think "that was fate". While i'm in the moment it doesn't enter my head! Thanks for your insight :0)

I believe, we make destiny happen. Anything that happen to us are fruits of our labor. However, at times, life isn't always fair. We don't always get what we deserve. but in the end, we are still winners if we continue to make our destiny. ;)
