I have a Older IBM Think Pad and I am trying to get it connected to a wireless network...Can anyone give me a few pointers? It is saying that the network is unable to renew the IP address and there is no or limited network activity, but I am trying to connect to the network in my place...

So you have a stinkpad - I am sorry I meant thinkpad.
I am assuming that you have had this working in the past.
First restart your Thinkpad, see if that does it.
if that doesn't work then shut down your wireless network and your Thinkpad
Then bring up the network completely. Then bring up the ThinkPad.
If that does not work, call your ISP.

First of all you should connect to the router via an ethernet cable so that you can check that everything is right. Once you have connected the cable, open your browser and type 192.168.0.1 which is the usual address of the main server. This should open the router configuration, so you will be able to ensure that DHCP is enabled, which will allocate an IP address to your computer. Also check whether encryption is being used, and if so enter the correct details into your computer settings.
Once you are sure that you have everything set correctly, then you can remove the cable and try connecting wirelessly.
