Family portrait: photo or painting?

given a chance that you would be able to have a family portrait how would you like to be done? thru camera or thru painting?

I would much prefer a lovely family photo. I do like paintings but I'm not sure what style I would like for a picture for the house. I have had some lovely photos done of my older girl a few years ago and would now like some of her and her younger sister, its just a pity they are so expensive.

I would do both because they all look different all the time. I think I don't mind having both at all.
