Acronyms are those crazy words formed by taking the first letter of several words and forming a new word. Do we have too many in the English language? Everyday you come across new ones, especially in technology.
Probably the most recognised acronym is NASA, which stands for National Aeronautics & Space Administration. One not so well known is SCUBA (as in diving) which comes from Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus. And of course there's QANTAS, from Queensland And Northern Territory Ais Service.
However the one I really love is TWAIN, Thing Without An Interesting Name.
Just for fun, if you have any interesting ones, I'd be happy to share them with you.

I really like TWAIN. I created my own long time ago. When people ask me for best diet, I always say DETM is the best diet. Don't Eat Too Much. :)

I like it, and if I have the opportunity I'll use it. That is of course unless you've copyrighted it.

Most people don't know that laser is an acronym. Light Amplification through Stimulated Emissions of Radiation.
I don't think that there are too many of them but people do abuse them on a regular basis, and most of the time they are abusing them in the wrong way or using their meaning incorrectly.

Well, I'm one of 'most people' because I didn't realize laser was an acronym. You're never too old to learn. Thanks freak.
