How to get referrals

I tried this topic a while back but I got no responses. What strategies are you people using to get referrals. I have tried mostly just traffic exchanges with no luck. Does anyone have any tips for me?

At the moment I have no referrals. But I have been told how to get them. Basically there are three main ways.
1. Send as many links to your friends
2. Paste your referral link as a signature on any other forums you are a member of
3. If you have a blog or website make sure it is featured on there

The first one is out, as none of my friends believe in stuff like this. I'm not currently an active member in any other forums, however I may start becoming active again to get some expostion. I am not sure if I have added a link from my website or not. Defiantly something to double check though. Thanks
