well kutchi, it's not only one thing you need to concentrate on, it's a whole regime you have to follow: 1. delete all unnecessary softwares, files and folders 2. take backups of important files and folders and media files (songs, videos)and delete it from your computer. 3. scan your computer with a good antivirus software. get rid of spywares by running anti spyware (u can download ADAWARE SE from driverguide.com or download.com) 4. degragment after cleaning up disc from programs. repeat this every fortnightly, it might take up time to complete. 5. donot load your computer with junkeis and too much softwares. 6. make partitions on your hard disc and take backup of my documents every day, if possible. 7. you can save your data in a flash or pendrive insyead of floppy and CD. this is more easy and friendly. hope this helps, thank you * your RAM is okay.

You can try these: 1)run regcleaner... free software. 2)run defrag 3)run disk cleanup 4)check your cmos settings and set it to optimum or at default settings. 5)deactivate the programs that are running in the background 6)Use TuneUP Utilities program.... free software 7)If all else fails.... reformat!!!

OK yours PC configuration is better. So First of all use Any good Antivirus as per your belief and use CCleaner (Freeware) for deleting unwanted log files which Windows and other softwares creates. Then see the change. These works for me better. Have a nice day.

I forget to mention, if you use CCleaner, you have no need to worry to goto each and directory where log files and dumps are placed, it automatically deletes them. Have a nice day.

The performance of the computer depends a great deal on the number and type of software installed. So if you remove some of the nonessential software, I am sure you will have a vastly improved computer.

Sorry, but I can not help you there because I am not really good with computers. My husband takes care of all our computers, thankfully.

You should consider using System Mechanic which is a complete tool to improve the time response of your PC - by deleting unnecessary files, broken links, repairing / compacting registry, defragmenting your HDD and even your RAM memory. As sugested above, you can try to shutdown some system services. Also try to close some of the start-up programs by going to start run msconfig start-up (keep your antivirus active though). + the usual: deleting your temps, defragmenting your HDD. Best of luck!
