I heard that Norton is a "miracle" but you need to registrate with money; that is'n a problem but in my country, Bit Defender is the best seller ... what you recommend me to do? Follow science or the people???

Norton is a good one, but it has a disadvantage, especially when your SD-RAM is not enough to run this application plus the other softwares that were installed in your computer. It would make your computer run to slow. Bitdefender is also a good one. Currently, I am using avira antivir personal classic edition. This can be downloaded free at www.free-av.com. I have been using this for almost two years. Since then, I have never encountered any problems at all with regards to the overall function and system performance of my machine. Otherwise, I am so impressed and grateful with its performance. It updates regularly and can be scheduled at your most convenient time. It is very light on resources and does not use a lot of memory. Hence, does not slow down your computer. Hope this would help. Have a nice day!

Norton is crap and bogs down the system. You don't want it. If you can and don't mind paying for an anti-virus, NOD32 by e-set is the best. You can get it at http://www.eset.com A previous poster mentioned AVG and it's alright. You can get the free version at http://free-grisoft.com (I believe). You should never, never, NEVER run Winblows without an anti-virus!

i USE avg free edition. It's quick to install, catches virtually all viruses including trojans and is very easy to use. Best of all, it's free. But if you ccan spend the money, I suggest you get their upgraded version.

I used to use norton antivirus but it started giving problem so i had to stop using it.best antivirus i used ever is AVG-Antivirus... its more secure to use AVG although i also used Norton and Mcafee and many more.. but now i am satisfied with the AVG antivirus... its absolutely free for home users and the updates are quite easily updated without so much of time... and it gives the high performance for my computer. Many a times when i am sharing something in my LAN,,, AVG immediately detects which type of virus is this and completey wipe out the viruses... So i would like to prefer AVG antivirus and also suggest you to use avg instead of any other antivirus.

We only us Panda Titanium...and never had any problems with viruses..... one of the big problems with Norton(Symantec) is that they don't update on a regular basis(even though they say they do) regular to Norton is every few days.... however with Panda it updates every day. As to the 'free' AV software.... they'll usually only scan for a certain number of viruses, so in all likelihood you'd be better off with at least 3 of the 'free' ones, after all if it's free then it's only going to be capable to a certain level of protection....or spend a little and get Panda.

I got F-Secure Internet Security 2006 + Ashampoo Free Firewall because the F-Secure FW tends to crash and block that way all internet traffic. I stay at these two until I find something better.
