I mean, EW! They roll all over the da*m plate, then you finally get them on your fork and put them in your mouth, and you're like, Why God, WHYYYY did I do this to myself? They taste SO Nas-TAY! OMG, I think if I think about green peas anymore, I'm gonna *VOM*!

i hate peas too but my 3 year old daughter would definately say peas are her favorite food. if she doens't want to eat anything or make makeup her mind that's what she has. she went through a faze when she was 18 months or so where all she ate for 2 weeks were peas.

What is worse than green peas? Green pea soup. When I was a little kid in school and they served that nasty green pea soup I could never eat it and I always got into trouble for it. I can still remember the smell. Awful!!!

Nothing at all wrong with peas Geminigirl, so think that you must have had a nasty experience with them when you were much younger. Actually I cannot think of one vegetable that I haven't cooked at some time or other and they have all been eaten too. We are actually big vegetable eaters in my family, and my husband thinks the end of the world is nigh if he doesn't get his potatoes every day. LOL There are only two toods that I will not eat under any circumstances and the first one is tripe, which is just so disgusting that I will never cook it. The other one is sauerkraut, which turns my stomach just to look at it, let alone have a smell, and definately no way I would put it anywhere near my mouth. I am not keen on a few other things and only eat them under sufference. Green pea soup is not on my diet at all, if I can avoid it that is, but I do like pea and ham soup - thick as well. Also hot beetroot is another think that I will only tolerate under pressure, i.e. visiting and having it served up to me. Mutton is the other one, and that is probably because we had it a lot when I was a child, but a nice roast lamb is good. Parsnips I bake when we have a roast. Turnips are for soup mainly, zucchini either stuffed and baked or grilled but only so much of it. Have you ever noticed that if you put in 1 zucchini plant it will die, but if you put in 2 they will thrive and produce literally hundreds of the things. So much so, that friends shut the door when you come to visit because they worry you will try to palm some more of the crop off onto you. LOL Just don't put the peas on your plate Geminigirl and you will be fine I am sure. :)

Thank you , and you are right, I think my nasty experience with peas has been canned peas as the poster below mentioned. Canned peas are mushy! YUK!

You've never had turnips have you? I wouldn't wish turnips on my world's worst enemy! Or rather, yes, that would be the perfect revenge for anything! It's unimaginable. Can't even taste them without gagging. Or at least I never could, almost 40 years ago! We grew up in the era of "clean your pplate" but I think after awhile even my (oh so strict) mother took pity on me.. anyway, I've not touched 'em or tasted 'em since. Peas? I love peas! All snug in their pods, and green instead of a sickly yellowish orange..

Ha ha, and guess what? I looove turnips! My dad used to grow 'em in his garden and we would eat them raw with salt! Yummy! Ok, so I like turnips and you like peas. Sounds like a pretty fair trade off!

Canned peas are disgusting...they're just mush. I love fresh and frozen peas, though, especially sugar snap and snow peas.

Yes, I agree with you here. I think my mom gave me too many servings of canned peas as a child, LOL, and they are just mush. However, when I have those frozen bags of stir fry or whatever that has the frozen peas in them, I find them to be tolerable. Maybe its just the canned thing!

Mix green peas with carrots, garbanzos, raisins, liver or meat and tomato sauce. ( Cut them in cubes) it is delicious.

LOL I hate them too! My mom used to make me eat them when I was little, and I hated them so much I could only eat one at a time, and then I'd have to wash it down with huge gulps of milk to cover up the taste. Ick! I'm glad I'm not the only one! lol
