It doesn't matter what he does, he will never amount to anything. Albert Einstein's teacher to his father, 1895. We don't like their sound, and guitar music is on the way out. Decca Recording Co. rejecting the Beatles, 1962.

These are excellent examples of others opinions being totally meaningless. What truly matters is what the person thinks about himself, and not how he is judged by others. I thank Albert Einstein and all of the Beatles for having the courage to move forward and realize their dreams. They have enriched my life immensely. This is why all kids and adults need to be encouraged to follow their dreams. This it especially true at younger ages, for one never knows how far they can go in life with a little encouragement. This is exactly how the problems of the world will be solved. By those who have the courage to follow their dreams.

This is so well stated that it's difficult to add to it. My parents were very involved in our lives and were always there to encourage us in every way; we never got "fake" praise, but if we did a good job with something we knew it. And they offered constructive criticism in order to help us grow. Too many adults are afraid these days that constructive criticism will "harm the psyche" of the children. They give false praise for mediocre work and half-hearted attempts at projects, thus the kids grow up thinking that they can do no wrong. I think that it's so important to encourage children to follow their dreams and to strive to be the best that they can be. It's better to offer constructive criticism and help a child to find a better way than to flat out tell them "you aren't good enough to do it" or to falsely inflate their egos.

It is a good thing that Albert Einsteins Father didn't listen to that teacher or we wouldn't be where we are today. It is a good thing the Beatles kept their heads up and kept on going. They could of ended up just being nobodies. But they presisted and look what they became. These people who made these quotes where stupid and probably regrected them the rest of their life.
