Sheep as pets: Would anyone consider it?

I've raised lambs for awhile and I'm starting to think that sheep make wonderful animals to have. They're soft and cuddly, and very gentle and trustable. There are even miniature varieties just like there are of goats! They're not very expensive to care for, something like $200/year which is a lot less than a dog, and you can walk them on a halter. It's also a lot easier to get a show-quality sheep than a dog. So, would anyone consider one in their lifetime if they had the facilities and opportunity?

How cute. I would love to have a sheep as a pet. i've always loved sheep. Another good thing about sheep is you can use there wool to make stuff or sell so you can make money to pay for your sheep's care.

That's true. Really fine wool, from a wool breed, will make almost enough money to pay for everything. If you have a girl sheep and breed it, they usually have twins and selling them both will make a nice profit. If anyone is near southern California, there is a fair in May where a lot of kids bring lambs, and a lot of them would love to be able to sell it as a pet or breeder instead of loading it on the meat truck.

OMG ... a sheep isn't a pet ... it isn't an animal that stays in a backyard ... onestly ... try with a dog or a cat for start ... it will be much better and much easy to clean up after .... :D

A lot of people make their dogs stay in the backard already, and a friend of mine has a Suffolk sheep that she trained to only go to the bathroom outside, just like a dog. They're also pretty clean.

My aunt actually had two sheep on their east-Syracuse, New York property as pets. Not typical for the area, but they did a great job mowing the lawn! I couldn't have one myself (Boston life= no yard), but I wouldn't be adverse to the idea if I lived in the country.
