Does a crying baby annoy you or make you feel sympathy?

To start with I must say I love silence most of the time. I have mixed emotions here. If there is a baby crying all the time at my next door neighbour, I would probably get annoyed, close all windows so that I cannot hear him cry. I can do nothing. On the other side if I am at my sister's or anyone else where a baby is crying and I can do something, I would probably be the first one to go get him and try to see what is bothering him and try to make him feel better.
