We adopt, buy or breed them and raise them in our homes. Same thing with our kids, but they get health care benefits through our employeers. Why can't we have health coverage for our other family members, our pets? I don't consider our cats, dogs and bird "others" they are our "family". Does anyone else out there feel the same way? If they have a medical problem we want to be able to provide the best care and affordable and also have benefits of being able to give them their yearly well check like ourselves and our kids. Is there anything we can do to make this possible?

I guess not. You can't even add your mother or siblings to your health insurance policy -- spouse and kids only.
There is pet insurance you can buy separately though. I have checked it out, but it is soooo expensive. I know that vet bills can be high, especially if you need special treatments, surgery, etc, but I think when I checked it was like $9 for the 1st month and then it would go to around $25-$30 a month after that. I can see that it would be useful for those with high maintenance pets who require a lot of care, but still that is a bit high of a monthly payment.
I just have to pay the vet bill and hope that they stay healthy!

that does seem high, but like you said there are some pets that require so much in medical. Can't let them go without medical attention or their medicine either.

There is insurance you can buy for your pet, ask your vet about it. I don't see employers coughing up a premium for pet insurance though, at least not until the IRS lets you claim them as dependents.

Here our 'sixth sense' does work. Pets do not 'stand up' agaisnt us. We feel that we are doing a favour to them. Not even we are giving them proper coverage, leave alone the 'insurance' coverage.
