For more than 2000 years, china and vietnam have been cultural "cousins".today, these neighboring countries still share many common traditions.but how similar are their cuisines?eager to find out,i took a food tour of vietnam at one of taipei's most authentic vietnamese restaurants.what i discovered was delicious food undeniably influenced by china, but with a light, delicate flavor all its own.the menu featured many familiar dishes like rice noodles and spring rolls.but the not-too-sweet,not-too-sour flavors were like nothing i 'd tasted before.

How I envy you! Vietnam has always fascinated me, but I don't see myself ever getting there.....way too expensive from Oz. But I can always go to Vietnamese restaurants and at least sample their food.....
