All the Christian and all the world believe that Jesus was hanged on the cross. But the bible says otherwise. Please refer to Act 5: 29 - 30 29. Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men. 30. The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree. Please refer to Act 10:38 - 39 38. How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. 39. And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree. (There are witnesses to this event.) Please refer to Act 13:28 - 29 28. And though they found no cause of death in him, yet desired they Pilate that he should be slain. 29. And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a sepulchre. Please refer to I Peter 2: 23 - 24 23. Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatned not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: 24. Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness:by whose stripes ye were healed. If Jesus dead was on the tree why the Christian said the cross is holy ? What a cross has to do with Christian ?

The Greek word "xulon" is translated "tree" or "wood". In THE WILL New Testament (Greek to English), the Greek word "xulon" was translated into the English word "tree" 5 times found in Revelation 2:7; 22:2 (2), 14, 19 all referring to the Tree of Life (it could not be wood of life). The "xulon" as "wood" is used 15 times where it could not be translated as "tree". The Greek word "stauros" is translated as "cross" which is used 27 times. The cross where the Lord Jesus Christ was crucified was made of wood. I am a Christian having been baptized into Christ on October 1, 1989 and became a member of the Church of Christ founded and headed by Christ on the day of Pentecost as shown in Acts Chapter 2. To us, the cross is just a symbol of suffering; we do not consider any cross holy. A cross has nothing to do with Christians. May be you are referring to Catholics who are saying themselves to be Catholics and therefore they are not Christians.

I still don't get it. Why not just translate it as cross. Thanks any way.

Are you familiar with figurative words? Like pilots referring to their planes as "birds"? Using the word wheels to refer to the whole car? Behind the wheels to mean driving a car? Has it ever occured to you that people of old can also use the word tree to refer to a cross made of wood? Can you use it now and call a tree a cross? You can if you want to but since that is an ancient figurative word, chances are you won't be understood. Let me tell you a good example. The ancients believe that the center of emotion is the bowels not the heart. You can't just go around now telling girls that you love them with all your bowels. Some uses of words are limited to their time. Appreciate the verses you quoted, they spoke of the great events in history and of the sufferings of Christ, it's amazing how people can miss them and instead focus on the word tree. A cross is not holy if that's you want to know. Cheers.

Thanks for your response. Now let us see this figurative words. II Samuel 24:1 And again the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and he moved David against them to say, Go, Number Israel and Judah. but when you read in I Chronicles 21:1 And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David To number Israel. If figurative word for cross is tree or vise versa, does this mean figurative words for Lord is Satan, or figurative word for Satan is Lord. Which is which ? Help me understand.
