What is the right way to say NO that will not hurt the feelings of the person and that he may be able to understand and accept that you're turning down his request for you?

Just be polite. Like say, Thanks so much for inviting me, but I will not be able to go. I have already made other plans.

First and foremost, "you have the right to say NO". . . We say "YES" to others because we want to please them. But when eventually we can't continue, we let them down and feel guilty. We also have to make sure and put these in our minds that we have to understand exactly what is being asked from us before we respond and make a move. It's just the proper approach of saying NO to others, saying it in a polite way but firm.

no matter how hard we try not to hurt someone's feelings when turning down an offer, some will still be hurt and will not understand our reasons. the best thing is that you are able to explain why you said "no" to the person than just leaving him/her with a questioned mind.
