I decided to do somehing daring and have my navel pierced at the ripe old age of 45. Unwisely I imparted this exciting news to my Mother, who threw a fit and absolutely forbade me to do it. Periodically she would whip up my tee shirt just to make sure I had not done the deed.
I have now lost my Mum, but I can not bring myself to have the piercing, as I remember how very much she did not want this. Do you have a similar small thing you would have liked to do, but feel that you can not because your parents forbade it whilst they were alive?

My mum was pretty horrified when I had mine done at 28 lol.
My dads face when I had my first tattoo and he realised it was a real one was a picture I won't forget in a hurry.
My parents forbade and I did, it was a general agreement so in the end, 15 onwards they just let me get on with it becase I would anyway and it saved the arguments.

I can imagine your Dad's face when the penny dropped about the tattoo! Pretty much the same as my Dad's would have been lol. I had my ears pierced when I was 22 and he thought I was a tart and didn't speak to me for a few weeks. Really.
Because we nursed Dad for a very long time Mum and I became more like sisters and I would not upset her for the world and now I could do it if I wanted to, somehow She still holds me back.

No, you would not have my problem then lol. My Mother and I were very close and if it was something really important I would find a way to do it and for her not to find out about it. She was so adamant about the tummy ring I can't even think about one without crying now so I don't think I will nd up having the piercing.
