I like both, actually. Although it's interesting to know that there are writers who are revisionists, i.e. they write in the manner of the classics. A few examples are Ian McEwan, Alice Munro and Margaret Atwood.

I prefer modern authors of best sellers that way i know its really worth to read it.I have only read classical when i was still in school because we were required to read them.

i like both classics are there for a reason the best sellers might pass and be forgotten for some time but still i want to know why so many people buy them

I try to get a balance in what i read, but i do generally find modern writters easier to relate with, which generally makes them more enjoyable to read.

well i like reading whenever i am free.i dont read just any book i get my hands on.if the book is well known or the author is famous, i read the book. if i like the work of an author, i try to read more of his books. i've tried robert ludlum and i loved the way he writes. his books are always thrilling.similarly, i enjoyed reading mario puzo.when lord of the rings became famous, i read the book and i really enjoyed it. now i think that there is no other auhtor as good as tolkein
