How to be convincing?

Since I'd joined a direct sales team recently, I found out that it's actually quite difficult to persuade or convince others, especially to recommend a product. They'll either turn away with excuses or ignore you completely. It's hard to have the charisma like a politician. But at least we still need some, right? But how? =)

I used to be a telemarketer, and I've discovered that making people laugh goes a long way to getting them to buy your product/try your service. I think it's because they're relieved they're tlaking to a real human being, and obviously it's easier to buy something from someone you like. :) It was hard at first (I had to gird my loins every time i picked up the phone), but you get used to it gradually.

Thank you for sharing your valuable experience in telemarketing. Hopefully, I'll be familiarised with the pressure working in direct sales. Good luck to you. =)
