indian film industry

why is that the hindi film industry is referred to as bollywood? similarly tamil film industry- kollywood, telegu film industry- tollywood and malayalam film industry- mollywood? do you think that it is necessary form the film industries to be some 'wood'? why do they want to caopy even name of the industry? don't you think that it is foolish?
