When did you start living on your own?? Here in Italy for economical reasons the young people stay with the parents till 30 years or over...I went on my own at the age of 23 years old...

30 years old?!? Oh my goodness. I think my mom & dad would probably kill themselves first. They had 8 kids (6 of them boys) and if we all stayed until 30....oy. NOT a pretty picture. I don't think I could have managed either. By age 30, I was married, 3 kids, divorced, back in school (while also working full time) and had a serious, perm diabilitating car accident. Nope....being at home would not have been good. I wonder how you do that in Italy. Much respect for you.

I moved out on my own when I was 19 years old and raised my son on my own. I did have family around but I had responsibilities to take care. I am now married and have three more children.

I moved out when I was 19 years old. I love my parents but I dont think I could have lived with them any longer. I have been on my own for almost 5 years and I love it!

Am proud of you. Not sure what those economical reasons are. We move out as soon as we are 18 in most cases. We graduate high school and get our own place if possible, share if need be, go to college sometimes, and live on our own. We do have a phenomenoa happening witht the older kids around 30 or so moving home since they get themselves into financial hardship. Some seem to never leave. So disappointing.

The nice italian families...I have a picture in my mind about them. One is for everybody- everybody is for one. I had to begin to live on my own at the age 16. I do not have such a kind parents.

Well, that is just good for you. I left home when I was 19. It would've been sooner, but my parents couldn't let go of me. But, in the end they had to let me go to find a life for myself.

I was semi on my own at 18, and then totally on my own at 23. I think for many, living with the parents as long as possible is a good idea. It depends on how mature the young person is.

I am currently living with my parents even if I'm already 27 years old. I am not obliged by my parents to live alone. As a return, I see to it that the basic needs in the family is provided. I also give my parents a part of my salary to be used in paying for electrical and water bills.

in india the concept is totally different!!! mostly elder son stays with the parents and takes care of them, though it depends upon family to family... as times are changing here too many go on their way as they get married!!! thats around 24-27
