What do you think about teenagers who dye their hair blue, green, or another crazy colour? My ex-mother-in-law used to have a huge issue with it. I think it's fun and that youth should be encouraged with their own styles and creativity. My rule of thumb is if it's not permanent or will cause no harm go for it! Sometimes I miss that aspect of being a teen.

Hi suedarr, I don't think there is anything wrong with teens dying their hair a crazy colour, I used to (and still do) and it has never hurt me. Not only that teenagers should be encouraged to express their individuality - It's part of growing up! Why not go for it now? I have red and black/blue hair and i'm 35!!

I would love to give it a try, but unfortunately I am job hunting right now. I used to work for a very conservative company and they did let a woman go because she streaked her black hair with purple. Personally I thought it looked great on her, but the management still let her go. Oh that was not the official reason given, but we all knew it was the hair. I was once chastised for wearing red shoes!!!!

i think it's fine to dye their hair strange colours. i mean it's not permanent. it doesn't affect their personality. it's better than getting a tattoo in my opinion cause that doesn't come off. i used to do it when i was in high school. let people express themselves any way they want as long as it's not hurting anyone and dying their hair is not hurting anyone else so why not.

I agree with you. I don't see a problem with anyone - to just teenagers - doing this. I wish I lived in a society where it is accepted for adults to work any job with unique hair colors. I miss being ale to dye my hair whatever color I choose.

Wouldn't it be just much more fun if we as adults did not have to conform for our jobs. The ability to be a little more creative ourselves instead of drab coloured business suits. I would love that!

That would be nice! My husband says that we should live over in London because adults having crazy hair is fairly accepted. They have all kinds of crazy hair do's, some of the folks look like they roll out of bed, put clothes on and go to work.

London England? I have never been, but plan on a trip in the next two years. Perhaps I could try some funky new colour for that. Cheers!

As long as they're not causing any lasting damage, let them get on with it. If they want to walk around with purple and green hair, they'll soon figure out for themselves that they look like a fool! Just make sure you take plenty of pictures to provide plentiful opportunities for embarrassment and/or blackmail later on!

To be honest I think the kids get a kick out of other older people making a fuss about it. I see nothing wrong with it- I think its cute. I'm with you though on the permanent thing- If it is a wash out one who cares- Kids could be showing their creativity in many worse more permanent ways- Tatoos, peircings, etc. I'd much rather my daughter want to have purple hair than go get a nose ring. My sig. other would have a problem with her dying her hair too- Oh I cannot wait to fight that fight- Freedom of expression is a wonderful thing for kids- I'm 34 and cannot die my hair purple- Let kids be kids while they can.

I think its okay to color your hair outrageously on special occasion like parties, halloween ect. but if its very stylish.. I think It could be a stand out fashion! c:

As you know my hair tends ti change with my mood and I'm 34 so I guess I never grew out of it. At the moment my hair is blonde and red sort of - its kind of orangey as I am trying to get it back blonde from bright red and it's taking a lot of doing. I think it is fun to have your hair how you want it, it's just a shame that people in the workplace tend to judge on haircut and colour, I don't see why young people should feel they have to conform just because of their job.

my teen son loves to play with his hair style and color every summer when he's on school-break. i don't mind at all, i even help him dye his hair sometimes, hehe. like you said, if it's not permanent and will cause no harm, i let him go for it. but honestly, i'm glad their school got hair-code making such technicolored hair go back to its natural color and prescribed cut once the school opens, haha! it's good to have someone else enforce the moderation :P

I dont think there is nothing wrong with it at all. Blue green, pink, purple, who cares what color . If that makes them feel happy about themselves I am all for it.

I think it is fun! Teenage years are the perfect time to have fun and experiment. When I was a teenager, I used to dye my hair all sorts of colours. I stick to my original colour now, though!

I have super light blond hair and I have dyed every color possible, my mom let me start dying it when I was 11 and I have never stoped. I think that its good to express your self when your young and can get away with it.
