I'm often perplexed about the technical side of computers and it puzzles me so to try to put the pieces of the jigsaw together even with detailed instructions I fail to derive any input from such a complex beast that is the computer.

Are you doing a daily cleaning routine? Here's mine: 1. Delete cookings and temporary offline files from IE 2. Clear cookies and cache from Firefox 3. Run adaware 4. Run diskcleanup 5. Run AV software (if something is found that the software can't clean, I run a search for it in the pc files and delete it manually) 6. If none of the above work, I go to housecall.trendmicro.com ...it might be trendmicro.housecall.com, not sure, but it usually nails anything my software doesn't get

A virus could get in and overload your system. You yourself could be doing so much to overload your system. A program could be become damanged in some way and cause a crash of your system. So these would be good to start with if you are having problems. This complex beast speaks a simple language yet only a few of us understand it.

No hard feelings dude, if you have your own pc than u are lucky because this will give u more xpereince eventually to tackle with or cop with the errors or crashes, the common reasons for a computer crash are related to its use, cleanliness, security etc, these are very basic pre requisites, u just need to spend time with problems

Well, computers crash for two reasons, software troubles or hardware malfunctions. Most of the time, it is better to have a software breakdown than a hardware crash. We do not know all the factors that leads to such crashes, but it is safe to say that viruses, misuse and negligence contribute to this. Hope that helps! =)
